took your advice curt, aimed the tweeters towards each other and just a tad towards the winshield, imaging is great. best imaging ive ever had. much better than having the tweets in the kicks.

thanks!

ok, here's the question.

when making ur base mold, u took offer the little plastic things, correct?

i assume the answer is yes, and if it is.. .

then did u cut off the side pieces that connect it to the runner or the car and then mold onto that so then it will "snap" in for better fitment. .. . .

i just started my mold the other day, and i took off the plastic and tryin to get it tight as possible to the car, and then i have to figure out what im going to do to make it run flush with the runner of the car, i thought i could cut off the side of the plastic piece and bold onto that. .. ??. . .got any tips for me?

edit: also , on ur driver side, do u have a man or auto, i think u have an auto .. . its gonna be a tight squeeze with the clutch. .. !?

edit2 : AHHAAHAH i am gonna leave my first edit up, after i SAW U HAVE A picture of ur SHIFTER. . god im dumb sometimes anyways. . . i guess that answers my question. . it can fit :)

whats that yellow fabric that u used? also can u list all supply's needed?

MP3, yes i took the plastic pieces off and molded the mold into that for good fitment. as for tips, you have to take out the box of wires that you have in both your driver and passenger side and tuck that under the dash somewhere. and once you have that removed, dont be too greedy with airspace and mold too much into that, it will be very dificult to put the kicks back in, i made that mistake. the yellow stuff is fleece, which can be bought at local fabric stores or walmart for pretty cheap. as for supplies here is a list:

fiber cloth (optional)
fiber mat
fiberglass (1 gallon)
cheap paint brushes
fleece
pipe strap (copper kind is stiffer)
1/2 in mdf
latex gloves (verrryy important hehe)
bondo
bondo spreader
sandpaper ( i used 60, 100. 150 grit)

i think thats it! good luck..

We actually have a lot of room between our clutch pedal and the sheet metal. Removing the wire boxes in each kick panel area makes it even easier to push the speakers towards the outside of the car. I use to have 5.25's in my kicks, and those kicks didn't stick out past where the factory ones were.

^^ if u took out the box of wires, where did u put them? i mean i really dont want to get into moving al those wires, but i will if i have to. . . in pictures 8, u can see how the shape of the stock plastic that clips into the runners. . . ? so u molded right onto just those or u used the WHOLE plastic piece, cuase as i see it, if u use the whole plastic piece then u are losing space from behind.. and by the time u r done the kick will be in the middle of the floor (little exageration). but i also know glass wont stick to plastic? . . .

I took the box out (one bolt) of the sheet metal. I then uncliped the wire harnesses from the box (the box was removed from the car). Then just tape the wires together and shove them under the dash. There is plenty of room. No cutting of the wires in required.

actually, the glass does stick to the plastic. you just got to sand it a bit to make it a little rough.

Well, that all depends. I use to be running a Blaupunkt amp for the tweets and an Alpine amp for the mid-ranges, mid-basses, and the sub. But since I recently smoked the Alpine amp, I'm running the same Blaupunkt and an amp that I'd rather not say who makes it. ;) I even removed the logos and applied my own team logos to make it hard to figure it out. This amp was purchased for one show, then it will be re-sold.

As for the subs, it's more like one sub. I have a single PPI Pro12 in my sphere in the back. That one sub will easily push over 140 dB. It's a badass sub that is tight as hell. I get compliments all the time on how amazing my sub-bass is.

after hours and hours of sitting in my car day after day. taking in and out my qsds and utopias. finally finished and am VERY pleased with the sound. i ended up using the utopia mid with the qsd tweeters crossed over at 4k with a 18 db/octave slope. i would never thought i would hear the day i say that an mb quart tweeter is smooth, but the qsd tweeter is VERy detailed and smooth. sounds better than the tn51 to me. just wanted to follow up... now for the trunk i will post some pics as i go along.

Yes, I was at the 2003 IASCA World Finals. There are a few pictures of my car from Finals. If you visit CarSound, there are also some pics of it from SVR IV, which was last weekend.
