engine mounts are less expensive than LSD, but i'm sure LSD works best. engine mounts do a good job, TRD struts and springs didn't help mine, bill's front engine mount did wonders.

yes i would say engine mounts will be your best and cheapest bet to reduce wheel hop.

Engine mounts stop the biggest cause of wheel hop: engine twisting. When you launch, the engine twists one way, then it kicks back the other way due to the soft rubber stock mounts. Polyurethane mounts will reduce the twisting significantly. A byproduct of this is a smoother shifter, since the transmisssion doesn't move around either, which would cause the shifter cables to move around as well.

how harsh does the ride feel with more aggressive engine mounts?

The front mount adds some vibration at idle, and the rear adds some vibraition in the steering wheel. The rear should be the most effective, since the engine twists backwards, and a few people here have torn their rear mounts.
adjustable shocks... no wheelhop what-so-ever after i got mine...

no matter what you get if you dont learn to launch you'll simply get more wheel hop ;) just keep that in mind so if you try any of this and it doesnt work dont blame the suggestions blame the driver. :D

You can get the ES Matrix XRS inserts for teh rear and front engine mounts. Some ppl talked about hwo to install the rear a while back, search for it.

I've noticed this...has this been happening with the stock rear mounts or the modified ones?

Engine mounts. That's my opinion. I had wheel hop galore with the stock suspension and 2 other suspensions and it's still there, not as bad, but still there. That's the only cure. It's a known fact. Could you deal with the other possible side affects? Let me know and I will get my engine mounts too. I have heard that some import mounts were unusually weak. I don't know for sure about a Celica's, but I know I might be looking into other things soon or already, because I have my own doubts.

One thing I did since I couldn't get the rear mount out was to get it out enough to put the ES inserts in. You may have to move the engine up/down a bit to wiggle it out. Use the trany to raise/lower the engine. Be gental! not too much! Also you may need to take out you battery to get access to it from the top. Not needed but helps... Takes about an hour or so for the back.
