A while back I ordered a Power FC and Hand controller. I just recieved the PFC, but was told by the suppliers that I won't receive the Hand controller for a month as they have run out of stock and that I will be recieving the 'new style'.
Does anyone know how it differs or have any pics?

I wouldnt even bother with the hand controller as it doesnt have all the functioanality that the FC-Datalogit does. The Datalogit has much more resolution when it comes to tuning ability, its much more user friendly as well. You can look at the entire map and not little sections of it. You can also datalog runs and save them and review them later. I would higly recomend you looking into it. It runs about the same price as the hand controller, but IMO offers a whole lot more.

you need to use either the hand controller or the FC Datalogit and tune it on the dyno to get the most performance out of it.

Thanks DY I think you are right!
The only reason I got the hand controller is because it came free with the PFC.
I plan to get the FC tuned on the dyno by a pro (with the Datalogic), and use the hand controller just for monitoring.

i assume youre talking about the commander.....regardeless yes the only thing i use it for now is to monitor knocking as my defi gauges monitor everything else. I might even get rid of it as its getting to cluttrered inside the car.

both, we use the datalogit while on the dyno. and we tune as needed :)

00silverGTS6spd, Illusive and Myself have spent several hours on the dyno becoming accustomed wit the Datalogit software...The software is not very hard to learn, any compitent tuner will figure it out easily...

It came with the Power FC as a package, that is how Japan usually sell it as. Power FC Commander only can tune 5X5 while the Datalogit can do 20X20. Commander is not good for tuning, but it is good for monitoring things. So when you use datalogit you can use computer to tune while datalogit can monitor some other numbers, after you are done you can unhook the computer and just use commander to keep an eye on engine health :)
Yes Commander is useless for tuning, but it is good to use to monitor your engine :)

I'm asking since MWR is asking $349 for the commander. For monitoring without the laptop it would be nice to have and even nicer for free :D. I've seen the PFC on ebay with commander for $1049, however I have not had any luck with the seller replying to my emails so I was avoiding it. MWR seems a lot more trustworthy. Thanks!

I bought from that guy... $25 shipping to U.S. right?
They are good at reply when you buy, they answered any question I had a day after I sent email (time difference) they are in Japan. I had to wait for 2 weeks because he does not have one in his hands and he had to get one and they were on back-order, but after he notified me that he got it I received the unit 3 days after receiving email.
Also the seller engrish is no good, need to kinda read between lines to figure out what he mean. But he kept me updated during the whole back order situation, and if you check his feedback you will notice 100% with a bunch of sales under his belt.
But MWR is the one you should get since you are interested in getting Datalogit with it as well as having their map to start with.

I finally got my Commander! It looks great on the dashboard. The casing is a gold/silver color and the backlight is blue... Just using it for monitoring....

SOorry, the backlight IS green. At the time I only saw it in the sunlight and it looked blue. I don't know where the hell to mount it!

I considered that the reason to get the Commander is to monitor knock...however I'd rather just keep my laptop in my car and save my money for something else. It just seems too much to spend to use simply as a knock monitor. Does anyone else feel this way or is $349 nothing to you guys? I know some would say it's cheaper than getting a new engine, but for me I would just put my laptop in my car.

Problem is you have to start the computer and start the software before you start the car (according to the datalogit forum). Which mean you sit in the car for couple minutes waiting for the computer to boot up before you put the key in and start the car. Also the notebook is kinda inconvenient to move around...
It is an awsome tool to tune car with, but not really convenient to use as an monitoring tool when commander can do the same task.
