I know this has been talked about before but is 05 the last year of the celica or just the last year of our model??
My mom was getting her Corolla worked on the other day at a Toyota dealership when I thought she said the guy there told her that 05 was it for the celica that they are making something else to replace it?
What info you guys have?
Thanks for your time!

Probably will be the last year but if you do a search you will see many so called next gen 8th model line celica concept threads.

All good things............... At least celica owners out now will be able to savage some sort of residual value out of their cars.

And we won't have to worry about a superior model Celica coming out, making us look slow(er).

Toyota has stopped promoting the Celica in the US long ago.
Everything that Toyota says points to the fact that the SCION will replace the Celica as the car marketed toward the "youth market".
In fact, I was a the local Toyota dealer the other day and was reading all the "press releases" and inter company e-mail that was made public concerning this topic.
Evething I read was SCION this and SCION that as the new Toyota that will be marketed to the younger, performance/mod market and compete with the honda Civic.
There was no mention what so ever of the Celica.
The Celica appears dead in the US market.

A shame dont you think, from what i hear celicas are very common overthere in the states so why would they stop it?

I saw a Celica on a Toyota commercial a week ago... Something about Gas milage...

I'm not an engineer or anything, (well, yes I am) but for the sake of argument, do Japanese cars, in general, have higher resale values than say, American? ie. if I were going to sell my 2001 Celica, wouldn't I get more for it than say, a 2001 Firebird?
In regards to the Scion tC, what engine are they putting in it? the xA and xB have the Echo engine; are they making another Echo? that would suck for future Celica buyers, but would anyone realistically trade in a 7th gen for an 8th? (esp. since most who buy their own cars would hypothetically still be paying for it in 2005)
toyota will probably just do what nissan did w/ the 300ZX...take it off the market when sales decline, then bring it back as the 350Z...theyll market it to mid-life crisis men in their 40's...

:werd: GM and ford expected them to sell theirselves. They didn't market the car, salesmen didn't know **** about it other than it being fast and a V-8 and they didn't want to budge on the prices. :thumbdown
Though ford has done some promoting of the up coming 05. At the ford dealership in my area they had a mustang car show showing off a bunch of vintage stangs and A 05 gt was brought in on A trailer to promote. Damn thing had me wanting to buy it then and there.

Alot of factors depending on condition but usually the best car to hold value is a high demand, low mileage, low volume car like a GNX, TTA, Viper, Nsx, etc. Mass produced cars you see every day end up having A value just a few bucks above wadded toilet paper.

Apparently, the Scion Tc will have an optional 200HP Supercharged engine. The regular one will have 160HP. Or so I've heard.
