i drove up to nashua and bought some oil filters (90915-yzza1). these have the new design. the filtering material is star shaped and made of some foam. some people rave about superiority. i think it's a great deal at $4.50/no tax. i picked up a few extras if anyone is interested. or you can drive up there and buy them yourself.

the next best thing are the supertek ST4967 for $2 from walmart. these seem to be the same as mobile1 m-103 which goes for $10. it is made by the same company (champion) and uses synthetic fiber as filter media. according to the box it has superior filtering than mobil1!

so i've always wondered kia, is the supertek ones better than the fram filters they sell at walmart?

fram is junk. a waste of money and a risk to use.
tough gurad seems to have received some acceptance. but i'd seriously avoid the regular fram. i have never used any fram products. other labels that house the fram filter are penzoil & quaker state.

supertek & mobil are the only filters that use synthetic material to my knowledge.

supertek seems to be a great filter, and for the price it really can't be beat.

for some reason, i've never straid from toyota filters. i think i'm about to start testing out new filteres. BUT i'm pretty hesitant to do so with the celi oil problems :ugh:
