So do you guys prefer leather or cloth seats in a car?? Is leather more difficult to maintain and keep in good shape? How do they feel in the winter/summer? Just wonderin cuz I've never owned a car with leather seats before... they definitely cost more $$$ but are they really worth it? How's the quality of the seat material in the Celi GTS, both leather and cloth? Thanks for any input.

I'll pick cloth over leather anyday on a sports car. Also consider this, if you are going to put in aftermarket seat in the future, then there would be no point to get leather right eh??

but leather only looks good, thats if you spend time maintain it like you said.

the stock cloth seat in the GT-S is pretty good. So far, i have no problem with it. But i would perfer the seat for GT instead of GT-S.

Maybe be only canadian get that option. not sure about US people.

oh yes, till now i felt that i was the only GTS with cloth seats. for me, i really hate the heat and since my parents have cars with leather, i know that it gets pretty damn hot in there. but too bad i couldnt get the moonroof tho.. for some reason those 2 options are only given together. oh well... in fact, i think the celica looks better without the moonroof. to me, its gives it a better profile or something.

i love my cloth seats in the GT. since i have a red celi, my seats are red and black cloth. everyone thinks they are modified seats, but they came like that stock. plus, i hate leather seats. When i'm trying to wear my hootchie mama skirts and dresses in the summer, the leather seats burn my booty. can't have a burnt booty, ya know :)

The cloth is far better in the GT-S than the leather.

I like the leather, because aside from the fact that it is more comfortable and smells better, it is a million times easier to keep clean and looking new. I didn't realize how nice that cleaning part is until a couple of things happened. Once, I left the moonroof a crack open, and there was a quick, sudden thunderstorm, drenched the inside of the car. Simply dried of the seats with a towel, and that was it. With cloth seats, they would've been wet for a long time. The other thing is I have a dog, a big black lab, and he doesn't stay clean when we go hiking and stuff. Doesn't matter, because the dirt and hair wipes right off with no problem, and his nails have done nothing to the seat.

I will admit that it is annoying that is doesn't pull your sweat away in the summer, and you get a little stuck to the seat. But I think I would rather it not absorb my sweat so that it doesn't start stinking.

Just as reminder, the leather came with Celica is *VARY* thin!!! Also, only the front is leather, the back seat is not...

Someone on the other board suggest that anyone who wants leather would be better off buying a cloth seat and refit with after market leather, which will only cause around $300~$400 for all four seats. Therefore, unless you really want the side air bag option, it's some what foolish to get factory leather.

By the way, I have leather, they are only good for look for the first month, doesn't matter what you do, after that, it wrinkle up quick.

Well, my dog has yet to puncture the leather, so it can't be that thin. And you must be doing something wrong, or the leather in CA is cheap, because mine has not wrinkled at all. Looks the same as it did two years ago.

Leather isn't hard to maintain at all. All you have to do is put some leather conditionor on once in a while. You may have to use a leather cleaner if it's dirty but that's about it. I have no regrets about getting leather.

I've had black leather in my MR2 for 9 years. I didn't want leather in my next car. It's a pain in the butt. It's hot in the summer and you slide around on it. I had no problems with the fact that the Type R doesn't come with leather. Save your money and get some performance parts instead.

Interesting that this keeps coming up . over and over.

The back seats are NOT leather. In fact, the back of the front seats aren't leather either. The only part that is leather is the front of the front seats.

NO, don't come on here and say, "well you got a bad deal" , or " I just checked mine and they are all leather" ..

NO . The back seats are vinyl, and so are the back of the front seats.

Who cares what the back seats are made of anyways, they're only used for luggage space.

i've ridden in my friends GT-S w/ leather..... it's pretty comfortable, but altogether, somehow if feels more of a luxury car than a sports car....hard to explain.... but i have cloth seats... i dont slide around when i take turns extra hard, all i gotta do is lean in the opposite direction to stay planted... my friend took the gt-s pretty hard and i was going all over the place...... i'd pick cloth over leather just cuz cloth has more friction...... it rips really easily tho.... watch out if u have zippers :gap:

the point is, we celica owner is paying as much as the solara owner for the leather option, but the solara owner is get *ALL* leather.

One other thing that may explain why some celica has leather back seat. Some dealer is installing the after market leather in their cloth seat GTS, which in such case, the Celi would come with all leather... So, if you do get all leather, you got jacked!! :fawk:

:P i thought he meant that it was cloth in the back. interesting... i never knew that it was fake leather in the back. my gts came with cloth seats and the dealer put in the leather after a week cause it was on back order or something. i drove with the cloth on for the week i had it and i like the leather better.

I had to special order mine with cloth seats and wait three months, because I also wanted it loaded. The only loaded cars on the lot had leather. I wouldn't have minded the leather really, except for the fact that it was just leather faced front seats, which I thought was pretty el-cheapo. We have leather in our GS400, and that's enough for me... personally I'd rather have cloth in my own car, and the GT-S seats are about the best out there.

i have a leather seats too
if your smoking then leather is way to go since the seats wont smell unlike the cloth does
and the only thing that i hate about leather is that
it's too HOT in the Summer and it's TOO cold in the winter
if celica came with an option of Heated seat and coolent seat
like S Classes do in benz then it will be perfect.

by the way does any know where i can get an Heated / coolent seat in the after market.?
thanks -
