Hey everyone,

I have a 2000 GT-S and my factory 3year/36,000 mile warranty is almost up. Even though I have had minor problems, I am definetly buying and extended warranty beacause I plan on keeping the car for a long time. I am leaning toward the Toyota Extra Care Platinum Extended Warranty direcly from Toyota at the moment, just because they are factory and all and besides they cover TRD products and in the event the part fails, they replace it with the same part, whereas any other warranty will replace the part with the stock Toyota part OEM not TRD. I have also heard of many other warranties out there, including one my Florida dealer is trying to sell me which is not directly from Toyota, its from Southeast Toyota Distributors/Fidelity, but it is supposed to be factory backed as well. Anyway I would appreciate it if anyone has any info whatsoever on these extended warranties and the quality of coverage etc, etc...Thanks

sure dude i'll tell you a thing about them... i paid 1800 dollars to buy the toyota platinum warranty.. it covers me from the time my basic warranty runs out till the 7 year 100,000 mile mark, whichever comes first... it is still bumper to bumper and covers every part of the car.

at 10,000 miles i blew my engine to hell... the repair bill was something like 13K. Toyota covered it under their own warranty. They did not want to pay for the clutch though, so i protested it with the service manager as it should be part of the "total care" and guess what... they put a TRD clutch in it free of charge.

So far its been worth it... but then again.. with an entire engine costing somehting like 1K on ebay why the hell should i bother paying 1800 just for a warranty on it.

bottom line... i'm glad i have it but i wouldnt do it again given the opportunity.
