when installing low cost coilovers such as ground controls and the like that dont come with there own shocks, what parts, if any of the old back shock assembly's do you have to keep and reinstall?

Everything except the old spring. You might also have to modify part of the struts to get the coilovers to fit over them (or so I've heard).

The rear generally don't need any modifications. The strut replaces the stock and the coilovers replace the stock using the stock upper spring mount.

Wrong springs on f/b?
Lower spring mount on correctly?
Wrong part # (never know...)

Wrong part # (never know...) Nah, he's got adjustable spring coilovers, so they don't replace the strut at all.

celicasamurai, which strut doesn't compress? Or do both not compress?

Seen similar thing happen to a friend's friend's Accord. The problem was that there was a bar type bracket on the bottom of his shock and it was blocking the sleeve/spring pearch from going further down. So I lowered the spring to its lowest position and it was only about a few centemeters lower than b4....hardly noticable. I was all dressed up too so I did not want to fiddle with it any longer. I told the guy that he would have to modify the shock...like Blue said, like cut that bar out...it was serving no purpose, nothing connected to it. Damn Honda guys, they can interchange parts so easily. The GC Coilovers that he had was prob from a Civic or Tegra.

Well I just got a new job, better pay, about 30k more a year and when I get springs/coilovers...I am gonna go all out and get at least the TEIN Basics, but really shooting for the TEIN SS.
