I'm not one to have 2 coilovers go down hill on me, so I had my recently installed Tein SSP checked, rechecked, and adjusted accordingly. The bad news is the endlinks the came with the kit are already making noises. The car rides great, especially that I got everything perfect. The last shop couldn't believe that I put the new endlinks on. There is a noticeable give and noise and the shop knows they aren't solid endlinks or stock. I've seen it and felt it amonst other things. The car rides amazing now. It just makes some noise coming from those endlinks. Is this normal? Should I replace them or just ride it like that? The noise isn't a problem. I just want the handling to be perfect. Noise or no noise. I will call Tein and see what they say about it, especially since the shop is the best representative for Tein in my state.

end links connect the sway bars to the struts. Mine are noise too, even though they are all tight (Tein SS-P). In fact, that freaking rattling/clunking these coil overs make is the only complaint I have (they perform very well). The stock struts have a layer of rubber between the front upper spring seat and the spring to reduce transmission of road noise, the Tein's do not and I think that's the reason they are so much noisier.

i have a same problem too..

it's normal that coilovers make noise.?
the ride is perfect....better at higher speed.
but in some road, the suspension turn to a ugly sound.

could be the endlinks??

I installed my koni (yel) & skunk2's with a drop of 1.25/R 1.5/F and Haven't heard any clunking. I've even had the koni's set to thier firmest setting and jumped a few bumps and no clunking. I hear tha ocassional creaking but I've lubed up the rear hatch and that seem to take care of that.

I have the teins ss on mine and do not get any noises out of my suspension. Does it have to do with the pillow mount? Also did you torque everything to factory settings. I've noticed on my previous suspension set ups that my car made noises until I went back and torqued everything to factory spec.

Does your car make small "knocking" noises when you move at low speeds and go over bumps and stuff? I know that mine do right now (Tein SS). However, I have heard that this may be the result of overtorquing the endlinks (theyre only supposed to be torqued to 12 ft/lb) so I'm waiting for my friend to come back this weekend so I can borrow his torque wrench to try this.

you may want to check to see how lose your springs are on the coilovers, mine were pretty lose when I had the car up on the lift. my coilovers make noise in the rear I think is just the ruber pieces making noise. what are the factory specs on the suspension?

Go to Home Depot and get rubber electrical tape (it's called connecting tape or something like that). I used it to make my coilover (sleeves) stop rattling by putting a layer on the perch where it met the spring.

The combination of my Tein-HA's and Hotchkis sway-bars killed stock factory rear end-links and the front Tein end links. Very nasty clunking noise at low speed.

I replaced these endlinks with the ones from Hypermotive and it fixed the clunking noise for a little over a year. Recently I started to hear clunking again from the rear so I probably have to replace some parts.

Not upset with the situation, as it is just a something that happens when you drive hard and fast on a road course during high performance driving events.

For those driving on the street expect your endlinks to eventually fail as well.

Any clue exactly which part(s) failed on the Hypermotive endlinks?

The heim joints just become sloppy. But these can be bought online and replaced quite easily as they are just threaded into the hex shaft. Of course they are the most expensive part of the endlink.

I can't fault Hypermotive for this failure; it is just a wear and tear issue when you run a really stiff suspension. Afterall, I ended up bending a stock endlink and the Tein endlinks only survived a year and a half when operating in the same conditions.

I think my endlinks might be overtorqued and I am waiting on a friends torque wrench also and jack stands to see if that could be it. Nothing on any of the 4 dampers makes even the slightest sound. The springs and everything are tight. I know this for a fact. I am also probably going to try Hypermotive if I can't fix the problem. I tried calling Tein and I got some clueless girl for technical support. (no offense to any of the ladies). She had no idea what I was talking about and told me to e-mail her a pic. of the endlinks. What that's going to show, I don't know. I was willing just to ship Tein the endlinks. Tein was always more than informative and helpful in the past. Maybe I just talked to the wrong person at Tein.

Well I received the HyperMotive endlinks today. When I opened the box I couldn't believe those were for my Celica. They are way too long. I shortened one all they way and it's still longer than the Tein endlinks and I could barely (not even) get it on my car pushing the sway bar up with a jack. I decided not to go through with the install for now. HyperMotive says they can have a shop shorten the center shaft to any length I want, for $35 more. So figure $150 total for the endlinks. Forget that idea. I'm going to cut it myself unless any one else has any ideas.

If not, you'll have to take them to a shop to extend the threads.

The reason they were so long is because they're made for stock or lowered stock suspensions. The Teins are much shorter than the regular Celica springs/struts, so they need shorter front endlinks, which is why they come with the coilovers.
