OK..so I know I got screwed on a deal for some Brembo Drilled Rotors but when I received them, they had forgotten to mention that they were slotted too. I know Brembo doesn't make them drilled/slotted so I know they were done with just the regular replacements and drilled/slotted later.
I want to know, how safe are these and has anyone else put these on their car? I'm not putting them on and killing myself if they blow on me...I want to see others experience with these.
Thanks..

If you don't race your car on a road course, they should be fine. GTSnut drilled his stock rotors and they've held up with no problems. On the other hand, someone did some road racing, and his aftermarket drilled rotors started getting stress cracks on the holes. I've got some used noname drilled/slotted rotors, and haven't had any problems in 5K miles (the rotors already had 5K on them, too).

I don't do road coarses (althought I would like to try one out one day). I guess I'll just keep an eye on them for stress cracks. Anymore feedback from others would be helpful.
Thanks Bluebomer...

True Sport Brembos only come driller or slotted. Companies do things to the OE replacements to get both.
Also, the part # that is on the box for these is the OE Replacement #, not the FD or FS #.

exactly. if you see a brembo cd/sl disc it has NOT been done by brembo.

^- interesting/entertaining discussion of drilled rotors.
I would never put em on my car personally. I think that "if you never drive your car hard they won't crack" is probably the truth of the matter, but it's not worth risking your life for bling.

^^^ If you don't race your car like a mad man, then you'll be straight. Mine have been on for almost 3 months now, no problems at all. I just check up on them every now and then to make sure theyre in good working condition. :)

personally I think the risk of a cracked rotor is far less than the risk of gasses forming inbetween the pad and the rotor. It's so nice to be able to hit my brakes going 100 and have them actually do something.

I've had cross drilled and slotted rotors on my GTS for about 2 months, little noisey in the beginning, but they work great and look great. No problems here.

Does anyone elses rotors (mine are CD and slotted) make a whirring noise when driving? Let me elaborate...
I notice that whenever I drive past a row of parked cars (or whatever) with the windows down and the radio off, that I hear a whirring sound. Kinda like the sound made when you flip through a deck of cards. Also, sounds like a baseball card stuck in between a bicycle's spoked wheels. I hope I got my point across. :D So yeah, anyone?

Yeah I think the ones I have are so called, "Brembro" cross dilled and slotted rotors too, I live high up in the mountains in colorado and I travel back and forth to the city regularly which is a 22 mile drive, I test my times and do some canyon carving whenver I get hthe chance. I haven't had any problems with the stress cracks or seen any of any time. mine are, " zinc plated" so it has a shiny silver like coating.
I installed them a week after I got my car, and I put on 32,000 miles since. No problem as far as I can say, and I use them pritty damn hard sometimes.
Theres nothing wrong with brembo blanks that were drilled or slotted by someone else. Brembo does the same thing, they grab a pile of blanks and wheel them over to the mill and drill or slot them. The only difference might be the hole pattern or slot design but they work the same. Powerslot and every other slotted rotor manufacturer out there do it the same way, including myself. And to answer the "whirring" noise question about crossdrilled rotors, most of them make that noise, it a characteristic of crossdrilled rotors.

From what I know, Brembo molds the rotors with the holes, they are not drilled aftermarket.
In some cases this is true, I'm pretty sure that brembo is OE for some of the highline Mercedes that have cast in holes and I know that zimmermann does it for porsche rotors, but for a company to retool their casting to sell a few sets of crossdrilled rotors in the aftermarket is rather expensive considering the return on the tooling investment. I will check and have a positive answer on this in the morning.
OK, so I called my contact at brembo today and Brembo does in fact drill their blank rotors. The holes are not cast in.

Done in good ol' Costa Mesa... And they hold up well, I have many miles on the "Drilled" not "Cast" rotors and they have held up well!!!

Guys, as long as you don't track your car, cross-drilled or slotted rotors are fine. Even for canyon carving. When you are doing from 100+ to 40 about once every 60-90 seconds for 20 minutes straight is when I would start worrying about it.

Point well taken, even under hard street driving mine have held uo well, so unless your doing some autcrossing or actual racing I wouldn't get my ******* in a bind over it:)
Buy my slotted rotors instead...check out my thread in the vendor forum

Wouldn't it be EXTREMELY hard to make a casting with the holes already in it?
yes....thats why they only do it for OEMs because they know how many they will sell and chances are the OEM pays for the tooling to do it.

hey sipb.. how much for celica GTS all four rotors? Do you have just slotted? do you have both drillled and slotted?
On this first run, because I saw more interest in drilled/slotted rotors than just slotted, this is all I have. Once these are gone, I will be taking orders for whatever else people want. For all 4 rotors for a GT-S...$250 + shipping, slotted and drilled. Check out the pics in the vendor forum.
