so, on just one side of my car, there seems to be a roughness to the surface. You can't see it, just feel it, and it is VERY even. I had the car in for body work about 2 months ago, and haven't been able to give it a really good wash. So this past week was super nice here, and I took the opportunity to wax and found this area.

I took clay bar to it, and after going over the same area 4 times, I finally got some off. This area streaches from the passenger side front from the ground to half way up the hood. it is also on the same side, around the left side of the wheel well.

Any idea on how to get it off other than claybar?

Clay is the safest way to do it. Another method would be to compound it, but that isnt something i would reccomend with a clear coated car. Hit it with a good cleaning polish after you clay. You may have to clay more than once to remove all of it. Just make sure you keep a fresh clay surface because you can damage the finish by dragging the picked up debris across your finish. We painted my brother's jeep, and i have clayed it twice and still not gotten all the overspray off. It just takes some work. ou could make sure you get a good random action buffer and use some polish and remove it that way. But i would personally leave that in the hand of a professional. I would clay it again at least twice, and then if that doesnt do it, seek professional help.
Hope ive helped you a bit.

I have been contemplating just taking to a detail shop. It could use a professional cleaning anyway.

a cleaner wax should work. i used one of those 3 step process from megulair's (sp?) and it removed a lot of overspray.
