one question - WHY???!!!

you already had 276.4whp just fine before - if you raise the boost much more than that, you will have some major problems on your hands...if i were you, i would have saved a couple thousand dollars and been happy with a 12 second celica

i'd kiss the sky if i managed to get my auto in the 12s with those parts (which i am getting installed), but your manual tranny GTS allows you to get there without those parts

wow they were able to sleeve it?
Now only if c2gas finish tranny and it works well you are set :)

RichGT
06-25-2004, 07:06 PM
I believe its easily possible to sleeve the 2zz block. Darton has some sleeves, but I believe the same size as stock.

Darkside has a great point but I think Jeff woulnd't spend all the g's to end up with a blown tranny. I know for a fact he is going to beef it up.

Have fun with the boost man. ;)Get into those low 12's...hehe

As for me, looks like I am in Mike's position like 2 years ago. I am pissed.

Smaay
06-25-2004, 08:44 PM
Actually its harder to sleeve the 2ZZ than the 1ZZ...same machine shop did both and he said that the 2ZZ is way more brittle..in fact my block cracked on the bottom between the cyllindars...this was expected so no worries....

As for the 276 HP...i was very happy with that but i had to get in the 300's...i wont be happy till im at the top of the 1/4 mile list and nobody can reach me...nothing personal to everyone else...its just a goal of mine....

Just your imagination they are actually slightly thinner since the bore diameter has increased. The difference you are probably seeing is teh steel insert sleeves.

Nice looking block there Smaay - Can't wait to see that badboy run.

Well Smaay this will be fun competition. My car finally goes in on Tuesday to get the work done. It is really the same setup you have, but using the XS kit. This should be really interesting. I can tell now it will be you and I fighting for the top, Although your MR2 will beat mine because mine is bone stock 91T.

I need to get with my sponsors and see if I can get in this little horsepower war.

Actually if you are using the XS kit then you wont be able to keep up....the IHI flow much less air than the T3T04E that ill be using...so even if we a re both at 9 lbs....Ill be flowing way more air, hense more power....you know how i feel about XS but if things work out then good for you...but be aware of how they treated me....Another thing comes to mind....they will probally kiss your ass like keyshawns just to avoid any more bad publicity....

Countdown to Iraq, i mean Celica HP war continues....
edit: unless youre talking about top mr2 hp stats
edit#2 After posting this I could see bull**** being posted...In no way am I trying to compare c2powers kit and SF kit as both Jeff and I are going beyond what both kit makers intended. This is just friendly fun and hopefully we can all learn from our success and failures. Ok we now return you your scheduled programming:)

If I can't get enough air through the vf23 I will just get a bigger turbo, like maybe a larger vf turbo. I think they make a 30 now that is used on the STI.

If you are serious then you are going to need to convert to pre-03 throttle body and wiring so you can run a standalone, because things like piggtybacks and e-manage ersn't going to cut it up where Smaay is heading.

If you decide to do it let me know - I am currently researching what will be impacted if we do the conversion for Tomcats car in case he decides to go power FC

Alittle friendly competition is cool, just don't push too far and break something.

Maybe I should sell the MR2 and put all the money into Celica.... Bet I can give all of ya a run for your money :gap:

whoa whoa whoa holdup!!!!
THe machineist said that the 2zz block was weak??
Well **** how long do you think it will last if I slap on a Stafford turbo on it?
I am planning on upping the internals with rods and pistons, but do I have to worry about the block too now??

No - its not that the block is weak, the MMC on the cylinder walls is just very hard and they have to apply a good amount of force to bore it out. The 1ZZ walls are much softer and easier to machine.

exactly!! If you are going for about 300 HP then rods and pistons will be fine...im going for 400+ HP so thats why i sleeved the block....

06-27-2004, 03:01 AM
@smaay: Very nice!!!

The 2ZZ has a special coating on the sleeves. Since you bored the block it's most likely gone, isn't it? How thick is that coating? How did you solve it?

Thats the MMC I was talking about - it has been removes along with some of the aluminum jacket and been replaced by a steel sleeve

Hey Smaay, just curious, how many lbs of boost will that turbo be able to produce, and are you adding the new built tranny now or just going to run the stock one till it goes. Thanks

traitor! dont you know there is a war going on....stop telling my secrets you *******;) just kidding! Yea i got mine from EIP, at a very discounted price. But it got damaged in the mail, so Ill have to get another one at a later date. Without the discount though they are ridiculously expensive, custom may be a better route, and one i go with also. Again mike was just playing;)

Well if you mean what he brought here, dont get that. Its a crap. You can make better on your own.
Also on other hand I dont think even copper would hold up for 20psi, it will sooner or later blow it out. Do you guys use (we call) "fire rings". I suggest to use that, but I m not sure there is enough room for them.

Yes, better get a new one to be sure it will seal 100%.

EIPs are ****ing expensive, so I decided just to get a new stock one. But for your goals a custom head gasket might be the better option.

Anyway I'm pretty sure Gas will now what to do. :) He's pretty experienced with all that stuff...hehe

how did you all break in your engine after new rods and pistons??

cool2miketlu
07-01-2004, 07:43 PM
drive like normal, no real need to break it in... Maybe let the engine idle alittle longer at beginning to make sure motor oil coats everything.
