The 2004 RE-A JGTC car...and actually..most of the 2004 cars look completly different, more modern, espescially the Supra and the RX-7 JGTC cars. I LLOOOOOVE the lights on it...How about the kit...do you think the 7 looks better now? 'Cuz RE-A is selling the bodykit now...I'm trying to imagine it in a nice, neutral color like silver...

Has anyone gotten a chance to watch any of the JGTC coverage? :( I haven't gotten to see anything as of yet. Hell, has it even started yet?

i dont like the front lip and the rear would look like shit on the streets, but the hood and headlights are sweet.

I only looked at the last race results. Taniguchi driving the WEDSPORTS Rear-Wheel Drive Celica and Manabu Orido didn't finish, probably due to car problems. RE Amemiya built that car, and won 1st place in the GT300 class, finished 13th overall. I love his products but are HELLA expensive! Dont like his Corvette tail light conversions he's known for.

Archie, are you seriously considering the kit? It must cost a fortune?

Larry, did you put a deposit on an RX-7?

ArchangelX

Nah, mostly just wishful thinking...and long term planning, heh. I just think it really kinda changes the look of the entire car, makes it seem more up to date. I wanna see the bodykit on a regular RX-7, and yes...the damn thing DOES cost a fortune. His last widebody kit cost MONEY. But it does really make the car feel like more of a supercar...than an RX-7.

Oh..and I agree about RE-A's products. They'e VERY expensive, but I think that's because they're developed very well...you KNOW he uses that stuff for the track, and you can see him running his 7's at the track all the time. :faint:

What's amazing...is that RE-A has NO backing from Mazda at all....he supports himself against those HUGE corps like Honda, Nissan, Autobacs...man...that takes balls, and talent. I think that's why so many people consider him to be the MAN.

RE Amemiya is one rich @ss *******. Every Rx7 owner in Japan wants his parts and its not like those parts are gonna give your Rx7 700hp. Most of his cars are running from 400-450hp, but very nicely tuned and perfectly balanced. 1400hp!? That rivals the powerful RB26DETT. See why Le Mans banned the 787B from racing? Lots of power outta a smaller engine. There was an article on that Rx7 in Option2 Magazine. A lot of people couldn't figure it out what car it was. Debating whether it was a Rx7 or something else. Oh yea, did i mention rotary engines kick some serious booty. I'd love to see it kick a 1300hp Skyline GT-R's butt on Wangan.
*opens vid file* OMG?! Thats a really cool clip of the rotary at work.
Oh yea, he's also entering his car into D1 Grand Prix.

I've actually considering saving up some cash, and getting one of his engines put in my 7...oh...to dream..but that sucker would be reliable as hell if tuned properly.

RE makes some awesome stuff! my friend was the first one to order the RE wide body (2003 not the one shown above) kit to the states and the first to have it installed. i believe the kit and shipping was over $10k. and paint/install came close to that figure too.

yea my friend loves to spend money on his cars. he won $68k last year in prize money just for showing his RX-7. that doesnt include the money he receives from sponsors to pay for gas to tow the car around the country, and food/lodging. and he owns his own landscaping business.

This isn't the same guy with the orange, RX-7, Jay Laub, is it? 'Cuz if it is...he wasn't the first person to own that kit...not by a long shot. There's alotta hoopla that went down over that car on the RX7 boards... :wtf:

Cool pics Mike, is it still GT300 class?

WillyWonka
06-30-2004, 04:18 PM
The kit is solid Mike. The look is complete and it certainly befits the track. If its in your long-term plans, be sure you are 100% sold on it since it'll cost a ton. Be sure the car is a lifetime keeper.

ArchangelX
06-30-2004, 05:26 PM
Ya, Bobbeh...sure is. RE_A's not doing too bad either. :gap:

And yah, Willy...that's like LONGTIME plans...I don't plan on selling my 7 ever...the only thing that will cause me to part with it, is if I total the SOB. :wtf:

I don't know how much ithe widebody would cost..hah..but I'm leaning towards the FEED V2 front kit, possibly the sideskirts, too. I just want to give my 7 a more updated look right now. The 1993 Look is getting OLD. :thumbdown

I'm also going to pick up these wheels, too...Advan TC2s. That's if I can get my car shipped over for free, if not...I might have to et something else, but I think these rims look badazz. I'd like my car to look just like this car, for right now at least...then as time goes on, save up to make my car unique, and something that I'll only bring out on nice days for drives on the track or in the country. That's my long term plan anyways...

FEED V2 Front Bumper, SideSkirts, Diffuser with Advan TC2s.

"estimated hp"

;)

ArchangelX
06-30-2004, 07:10 PM
Of course, estimated...but the N/A 13B-REW puts out around 100 horses without the twin turbos, so you take 600HP from an N/A 4-rotor, and you can pretty much expect the horsepower to be doubled.

Trust me, that baby will take boost easily...and it would be well over a 1000HP with a good turbo setup.

Yea it is my friend Jay Laub... he told me RE told him he was the first to order it to the states. not tryin to stir up a big dispute over it. just sayin what i've heard. but just wondering...if hes not the first then who is?

EDIT: i forgot... he did mention someone else ordered it the same time he did... but his supposedly arrived to Greddy first. it was shipped with Greddys stuff. or something like that... im not exactly sure.

Ya...no offense to Jay...I've seen the hard work that's been put into his car, and he's definetly done well at the shows. But I've heard a ton of bad things about the situation with that car...and even though its all gossip, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

From what I remember, a place called rotary extreme purchased the original kit in order to make replicas, Chuck Huang, another guy named Zero something...then one guy already had a blue painted kit, and was actually going to try and make copies of the damn thing. That was an uproar in itself...this was way back before I actually bought my 7 and I was doing research.

Isami Amemiya talked to ur friend? U sure?? Its kinda like having Keiichi Tsuchiya give you drifting lessons. http://www.jgtc.net/race/2004/04team/04team_ph/04tm007td.jpg <--Isami Amemiya (aka RE Amemiya) I could be wrong tho, im just skeptical cuz he's just so high up there.
O yea, if you guys didn't know, the JGTC GT300 Amemiya Asparadrink Rx7 uses a 20b.

ArchangelX... i dont personally know about the bad situations you're talking about but you arent the first person i've heard it from. And i have heard vague stories about the kit trying to be copied too. Jay is a good friend and it hurts to hear alotta bad stuff about him. Many people here in Florida dont have many good things to say about him also and i have no idea why. He even told me himself that alotta people dont like him. Personally, i think people are just mad because he wins so many freakin shows, which is completely understandable. I know i would be mad too but i dont show anymore. He spends alotta money on his cars and he works hard for it. i believe the car definately shows the money invested. Winning car shows is alot about how much money and hard work you can invest. Jay does alot of both. but when you goto all the major car shows in the area you start to form relationships (good and bad) with the people you frequently see. forming good friendships with the car show regulars is important and that may be just where all the bad words come from. ive been to so many car shows with jay (he gets wristbands for free admission for me and my friends) and he can always just walk around and talk to just about any of the regulars like they've been good friends for awhile. i used to just carry my digicam with pix of my car, Jay would introduce me to sponsors, i showed them my car, and there i had it... partial sponsorships for many parts because they believe Jay's words.

Please just take my opinion with a grain of salt... im not trying to stir up any arguements but just try to disprove the misconception many people seem to have for my friend.

Also, I didnt mean RE himself called Jay. I meant he was in communication with the company RE. Sorry for the confusion. But who knows maybe my friend Jay did talk to him... he knows japanese. That would be kinda cool. I'm sure any rotary freak would love the chance to talk to mr rotary himself.

Hey Pucky...no offense taken and none meant. It's all hearsay, and I at one time, was kinda offended by what I heard, and thought what happened was pretty f'ed up with all the BS that went on. I even said so...and I thought it was pretty shiatty.

But that was a while back, and to be honest, I don't know Jay at all, so when I opened my mouth, I really had no right. That's his problems and his arguments, and I was just commenting on what I had heard. You always hear the good and the bad, and I had just heard ALOT of bad.

Dude I love the look of the RX7. The look of that car never gets old to me despite the fact it is 11 years old. I wish I had an RX7! The RX7 was my first true love of cars. I even remember my first site of one at the age of 14 and fell in love with it. I still love them and always will. Hopefully I will be able to get one someday and do every mod I can possible think of. I just got to find one for sale in my area that isn't ragged or busted up. A decent price would help too. If you do find one in my area that is decent people as like $16K for them which IMO is waaaaaaaaaay too much for a 10-11 year old car.

Anyways pics of both the kits looks awesome and the wheels look awesome too. I cannot wait to see this done, even if it take 5 years to do it. Later.

26B? CHEAP?! i wish. it wouldnt throw off the weight distrubition too much, but i think the 20B would be the best motor for an FD Rx7. Loads of power, and it doesnt have too much frontal weight. I think that's why Amemiya went with the 20B in the GT300 Rx7. The car has 310hp... in a GT300 class... THATS 10hp OVER THE CLASS LIMIT! HES CHEATING!:chuckles: I can only imagine the weight handicap hes got...
