can you please post a pic of that metal plate that you use to take the plastic knobs off the stock shifter and put it on the SS. it looks like a " C "

me and joe (evil eye) were tring to install his SS at my house and find out the hard way that we NEED that in order to get those things out. i tried to find mine but i couldn't find it.

BTW.....this pic is for joe to see what it looks like. this way it may help him to know what his looking for :gap:

EDIT: how long did it take you to get ur keys from ur house and come back to mine??

Thanks Mike, still can't find it huh? Damn, someone post a pic please! :D

I would say it took almost an hour, maybe 45 minutes round trip cuz there was slight traffic and it took me a while to adjust to the Corolla. :gap:

I still cant believe I closed the door with the keys in it. I must've been half baked. :(

this part is not part of the shifter. it's used to take off the plastic knobs on the shifter rod it self. any1 know what i'm talkin about?

Are you talking about the two white plastic bushings that link the shifter rod to the linkage?

I know what you're talkin about...I got those white plastic things off with a pair of pliers & some grease.

Yes, they have what appears to be two tiny ball bearings on either side of them. I could be wrong about that though.

It didn't stretch out or damage them in any way, shape, or form? We were going to try that but we were both afraid that would weaken them and eventually break off with age.

That's our patented "CRT" (cup remover tool). If you need one e-mail me and I can probably ship it out.

Using a pair of pliers can damage the cup pretty easily and keep it from sliding back into its metal socket.

Thanks,

Karel

Thanks Louie, I'll keep that in mind. Mike says he already tried a method on his TWM and it worked just fine. Aiming for a monday install. :)

:) Not saying it's impossible, just easy to mess up.

Providing a tool to do it right is a lot better than having to send new cups to all the non engineers out there ;)

:gap: Thanks again Mike, I owe ya bro. I guess we'll be even once I help ya with paint your headlights. :)

Oh man, that pin clip thing was frustrating as hell. Props to Mike for taking that off and putting it on twice! :D It didn't help that it was raining on and off and it was humid as all hell out.

Anything Mike? Yep, I have to agree, the man is like McGuyver, he'll use anything he has at his disposal to get the job done. :gap:

Thats pretty much what Mike did, but he had to use other outdoor objects to assist him. :chuckles:
