Yeah i now that,
It was recalled because it ws coming apart and the engine was ingest pieces of the valve. The fixed it though and all the new ones like after mid-summer last year work fine. What i want to know is why hr said his didn't work in that position.

I don't know. I called AEM when the valve first came out and talked to several tech guys about the valve not working on our cars. All they could tell me was that the vavle had to be mounted on a completely horizontal part of the pipe. They couldn't come up with a reason why however. I think it's bs but I'm sure as hell not willing to test out my theories on my engine.

hey just wanted to clear things up. i said i knew it was recalled from people saying so but i got it anyway just incase it did work. i havent had problems anyway must have gotten the fixed ones. the area i have mine i think should work and i wouldnt know if it did work cause i dont drive it in the rain. stays under a tarp. i hate washing the thing as it is cause its a black car. leaving it in the rain would be a pain to keep clean. like i said, i never said it didnt work on my car, just that people told me it didnt work. hope to have cleared things up.
wasnt it recalled like almost a year ago? has AEM done anything to fix/redo the bypass valve?

I think it's bs but I'm sure as hell not willing to test out my theories on my engine. There was an aritcle a while back, in some mag like SCC, where they tested the bypass valve on an NSX. Then had a long intake pipe going from the engine to a container of water, where the filter was submerged. When they revved the engine, the water rose up the piping, maybe about a foot or so, and this was totally straight piping running completely vertical. If there were any bends, the water would've definitely gone higher because of gravity.
All of the CAI's for our cars are curvy with very few, if any, straight portions. I don't think any have a section of straight piping that runs totally vertical.
