.....it was the Vauxhaul Lightning?
Assuming the shape will be as close to the concept as the Solstice is and they stick to the engine choice for this one.

It's a Vauxhall, you dorks...that's the way their front is, although this one is a lil' more pointy. It's their Trademark. :gap:

Vauxhall VX220 and VXR220 are currently based of Elise and are built by Lotus with 2.0 Turbo Ecotec engine, putting out 220hp and 221lbs @ crank for 0-62 in 4.2 secs (VX220 4.9 secs)...

Very doubtful that new model would be build based on Kappa platform since current VX220 weights around 2100 lbs while kappa is very heavy platform and would add 50% more weight to the car

If I'm ever in a position where I consider buying a Saturn I'm gonna have to take stock of my life and decide where I went wrong.

Not too shabby I would have to see the price tho. If it was in the neighbourhood of about 20k I would proly rock it. But we all know it will be more likely around 40.

Saturn might have a Kappa Platform vehicle very soon. It will more than likely come in the form of the Saturn Curve.

Looks nice, but im not crazy about it. I think its a tad too edgey. I think they should make something a little more smooth lined, like cars of the past. Those were SWEET! Dont like those tail lights. I have a thing against "euro-tail lights".

Yeah, well hyundais don't have the long term reliability as toyota or honda. Image is everything, and theirs is tarnished.
btw. I dont like either of the concepts, but I defiantely like the Vx Lotus!

Actually, they changed production methods in 2000 which resluted in the much greater initial quality and will, thus, over time improve long term reliability.
Image is somethings, but definitely not everything. Those that have knowledge can take advantage while those that work on "image" will follow later.
Would I buy a Hyundai today? No, because nothing they have appeals to me as of now. I would have no real fears about their reliability compared to the other companies.

no they dont... in actuall JD Power dependability survey of 3 yr old cars, Hyundai and Kia were at the bottom of the sheets. Report just came out and is consistent with other similar reports.
When you said "great reliability record", what you actually meant is initial quality study that Hyundai did well on this year. However that study only tells of any issues ppl report in first 90 days. For example, Scion did poorly on that report, and biggest xA complaint in the book was "harsh ride". So basically it doesnt distinguish between issues, and anything that people report counts the same (ie stiff ride and engine blown is counted the same).

That is why GM dropped the idea of the Saturn Curve concept because it got a less positive reaction at the auto shows. The VX is what we are supposed to get.
I think Pontiac and Saturn have had some of the worst cars out there for a long time with terrible designs inside and out. Built cheap and feel cheap, dated before they even hit the road. For all of my dislike for them though I am not going to slam these new cars until there is something real to be judged.

I don't know if anyone else has posted but Hyndai shares its position for the "The 2nd Best in Quality" right next to Honda(Newer Models apply).

If the front is the least appealing, the rest makes up for it. Closely replicating this car would be a good move for Saturn after looking at their production history. The performance hopefully will be bumped up from the typical Saturn as well.

The latest I heard is the car Satun is going to get for 2006 is going to be just like the silver vauxhaul pictured above. The most noticable change would be to the front end, as it might have to e redesigned a bit to meet US crash test standards.
GM's latest admission was that they realized Saturns were getting boring. The Redline Vue and Redline Ion are the quickest way to try to fix this. The new Roadster will be the first REAL attempt to put some legitimate excitement into the brand and get people into Saturn Showrooms.
If you would consider buying this car when it comes out, I think there may be some good news in that it won't be priced excessivly high. The past couple months GM has admitted they missed the mark by introducing the GTO and SSR at too high of a price. Plus, GM is SO reliant on people buying their cars so they can make money off the financing, I don't think you'll see new Cars by GM in the next few years with too high of a price (Well, with the exception of the Cobalt, I think they are going to make that a bit too expensive at launch).

I would buy a car pretty much from any company. Now n days w/all the technolgy cars are becoming quite good and relibale. But i would not buy a kia or a honda (honda is relibale and all but i would never buy one). And kia well kia....
