Found a site with pretty sweet prices... Already got SSBL's and brake pads, now I need rotors. 2 questions:

- I was thinking of slotted however the cross-drilled/slotted combo looks real sweet. Problem is I heard about drilled rotors being susceptible to cracking... Should I be concerned about this or just go with the combo (drilled and slotted)? I'm going with Rotora by the way...

here's a link to the website:

- secondly, the Rotora rotors give 2 options -> GT and GT-S... is the difference between the 2 just size because I have a GT and will be getting 17's, therefore I want a larger rotor and not just an OEM-size replacement. My question is, can I get the GT-S rotors and have no problems or are there other differences in the front brakes between GT and GT-S like calipers, etc?

I have the Rotora slotted and I have been very pleased with them. I have heard about problems with crossdrilled being cracking and they're impossible to grind down if needs be. Thats why I went with slotted. As far as size goes, GTs 2001 and up are 10.8" and pre 2001 are 10" thats the only things you need to be concerned about, as all GTS' are 10.8" as well.

ok, thanks bro... so if I go with GT-S slotted it'll be ok for my 2002 GT? just making sure before my purchase

another question - I like Brembo and Stoptech as well... which should I go with in terms of best quality and no rust?

Yes, front rotors for a GT-S will fit a 2002 GT.

As far as Rotora compared to Stoptech, I'm sure both companies have very good products, I wouldn't hesitate to buy either.

The latest SCCA Sports Car magazine had the first story in a series on brakes. Their recommendation was, with today's rotors and pads, that one should stay away from drilled rotors.

According to the article, he main purpose of slots and/or drill holes is to remove the gas that forms during braking; it is *not* for cooling.

With today's materials, the slots are enough to disperse the gas that forms. The drill holes simply make for a weaker rotor.

Given that, I would not go with any drilled rotors if you plan on using them for anything other than show.

Another use for drilling rotors is to reduce inertia and unsprung weight, while still retaining more swept area than a smaller rotor (at laest this is the info given to me from one of the Carrol Shelby books).
