I'd pay nothing.

Do it yourself, for $600 you can easily buy the manual and all the tools you will need.

You will even have $$ for the beer for a friend that knows more than you do...

Even if you spent $600 on tools, now you have a bunch of tools.

but thanks for the replies!

does anyone know what exactly would go into doing a clutch/flywheel yourself? what is it that makes it so difficult?

I paid $450 at South Bay Toyota. It turned out the guy writing out my work order undercharged me. He was real cool about it, though.

lift the car, drop the tranny. take the biyotch apart, take out cltuch, take off flywheel. and then do the reverse. theres alot i didnt metion like disconnecting and reconnecting. but thats the basic idea. i miss my mustang, you could take it on an off in like 20 mins........ok thats an exxageration.

You don't have to take the transmition apart to get to the clutch.

No you don't have to take the transmission apart to get to the clutch, but you do have to remove it from the engine.

I wouldn't do it without help from someone that knew what they were doing. That's for sure.

It's not that easy replacing clutch and flywheels by urself or with ur friend. cuz in order to do that you'll need a lift which costs around 2000-10,000$.
it took me almost 2 hours to take of my aftermarket exhaust and put a stock exhaust in. sigh....
don't go to the toyota dealership, they charged me $1000 for clutch and flywheel replacement.. of course +$500 labor charge.
haha

You don't have to have a lift. It does make the job easier but not a neccesity. On all the clutchs I have done in my life and including my friends GTS and mine I use a nice pair of SUV jack stands. I have done my second GTS and it seems to get easier every time. It is not rocket science but you do have to know your $hit. I did my car in about 10 hours by myself. I was in no rush since the car sits in the garage 99% of the time.

$2000 lift = $60 jackstands.

That's how it works in my garage, 4PASNU has the right idea.

THe wife and I will start building our new house in a year or two. It has a four car garage and one will have an electric lift. It is nice to have but I can wait another year. My garage will have the all-trac celi, the GTS and both Hondas. I will paint it my sceme and it will be climate controlled. The wife on the other hand gts a 1200 sqf master bedroom and a 250 sgf closet. It small price to pay for my garage. Craftsman tools all over the walls drop down air lines etc. etc.
