View Full Version : KYB - AGX vs. GR2

Well, I'm slightly considering going for a lower drop and have some sportlines and camber links for the rear lined up. However, while I have everything apart, I would like to replace the shocks, too since it will be a lower drop. This setup will be for daily driving, not for Auto X.

So, my question is, with knowing that the AGX's are adjustable, would the GR2's be sufficient for daily driving on Eibach Sportlines? Like I said though, I will not be auto crossing, this is simply for daily driving or driving out to shows. The main reason I ask is because of the cost difference and if the AGx's are *necessary* I probably will consider the change even less.

Replacing the stock struts with KYBs will do nothing for longevity with that kind of drop. Depending on the harshness of your daily driven roads, how hard you push the car, and how often you drive it, the KYBs could wear out rather quickly. The GR2s should make the ride more comfortable and keep the car more level on turns for a while, though.

What would your suggestion be in that case? I'm in school, so the car isn't being driven but two or three days a week. Next summer I am planning on attending a good number of shows though.

The struts will definitely hold up till next year if you don't drive that much. In that time, you may want to consider saving up for Tein Basic coilovers. They don't have stiffness adjustments, but they do have height adjustments and can easily go down to the height of Sportlines without sacrificing strut life. The car will also handle much better than with just springs and struts.
