I was looking at sound systems the other day and i saw the sony xplod. I tried it out and it sounded really nice. Does anyone know how much these cost? I never saw a price tag. Also how do they sound in cars? I would post this in the audio forum but i thought i would get more answers here. Thanks.

what are you looking for? I have the cdx m670. It's a good system but I would have rather gotten a crank volume head unit.

Head unit is great, so great that the one I had was stolen from me! But the 6.5" speakers suck ASS!!! Go with a different brand for those!

I will get in here before someone flames Jensen. The new Jensen stuff (now under Recoton) stuff is really good stuff for not much cash. They do still sell stuff from the old company and that stuff isn't really good (the blue and silver KA amplifiers come to mind) but the stuff they have released recently is quite good. Lucky for you that deck is of the new variety and it looks sweet.

Ah hah, found it in my Crutchfield catalog. Holy crap!! The whole thing glows red at night!!! Dude, that would look soooo good if paired with a red interior lighting job. Uh oh, just looked at the power specs, only 12W RMS x 4, that is pretty weak. I think the stock amp pushes the generic 20W-22W RMS which is common on most other decks (MOSFET40, MOSFET45, MOSFET50, etc). Well, it does come with a nice 3-volt preamp out, so if you bypass the deck's amp with a small external one (replace stock amp location maybe) like the U.S. Acoustics 4-ch ($179) then that would be a very nice, powerful, and relatively easy to install system.

i work at a mobile shop and we get the most returns on sony products. the sony decks give out too much bass and not enough highs and mids. the sony speakers are over rated. cannot handle as much power as it says it could-cant tell u how many people blew their sony subs. sony's highs and midrange speakers always sounds too trebley. the worst sony product are their amps. they always burn out because they were too cheap to build in a fan. all in all sony sucks for what they charge u. i've had many different car stereo equipment in my car and the best was alpine.

This is an URL to all the new Sony Stuff. The first headunit you see can change display colors and is not a bad piece in my opinion. I have been installing sony for 2 years now and Sonys new MEX-1HD which sony says compares to their C90 from a couple years back which is probally one of the best pieces ever made.

I was wondering which brands do you audiophiles prefer? I've heard a lot of good things about Rockford Fosgate.

I have the Rockford Fosgate RXF9000 MP3/CD...it has a silver face and red and white illumination. Also detatch. face and remote. Its a little more pricey than Sony. I think it was $400 back when it first came out, but now it lists for $300.

Wow, that Fosgate one is nice. As for audiophile stuffs, well, Fosgate is really good, but on those super mega systems I tend to see stuff by Alpine, Focal, Eclipse, Nakamichi, MB Quart, Infinity Kappa/Perfect, etc. There are many others, but these are the ones that come to my mind. Personally, if I had bookoo bucks to spend on a deck I would get that Pioneer FH-8800 (i think thats the model number) one. Its the double-DIN silver with blue illumination. That is the nicest deck I have ever seen, which is why it almost costs $1000 bucks :wtc:

Whoa, while I was browsing the site for the above picture I saw this new bad mamba jamba. I think I'll save for this one, always have been a Pioneer nut :D

Damn, I wish Sony was more reliable though, I would seriously think about getting their black-faced ones, the displays are really nice and the way the controls fold out are really cool.
