For 2002 the PAX index but known as the PAX/RTP index. Dave Beck has retired as PAX administrator and the new PAX/RTP index has been taken over by Rick Ruth, the administrator of the RTP.
2002 numbers... I don't need to guess, I'm looking at them right now. Sorry but I cannot make public any numbers until Dave Beck (the old PAX administrator) gives his final approval. It's getting close, Rick sent the numbers to Dave two weeks ago and today Dave e-mailed Rick some comments and requested corrections. Rick e-mailed back the corrections we accepted and a couple compromises. I am in the process of re-indexing Nationals and the other series we track with the revised numbers.
GS can expect a more RTP like number with a hit for performance and All the Prepared/Mod classes will be much happier with a RTP style number. PAX has always been overly tough on Prepared and Mod classes.
We are also adding a SM2 number.

Does that mean that SM2 (I assume you're refering to SM rules but for 2 seat roadsters like supercharged Miatas or Celica GTS engined Spyders) will become a recognized class in 2002?

I seams just about any two seater is eligible from a MG to a Viper. It will be a regional only class, some have said the class may run at Tours but I have heard nothing "official" about that. Just because Dennis Grant says so does not mean it will.
The SM2 number IS very tough, mostly because we have no data. just a set of rules. In the hopes we get it right we set the number a little tougher than ASP. The powers that be in SM will probably bitch a lot but you can turbo or supercharge a Viper or Z06 and run the class
