Hey guys, I need help. :\

I'm on a 28.8k at work, so I can't really navigate quick (ie: Use the Search button). My friend recently gave me a brand-new Sony Xplode HU for free since he won't have his car till September-ish. I still have the stock HU in my 2000 GTS, and I want to get this Installed. Mommy, yes mommy, is buying me a Clarion Touch-Screen for my B-Day at the end of August, but I need a good HU for now.

Anyways, how do I go about installing this? I've never installed an HU before, have always had friends do it etc, but i'm trying to get this installed ASAP.

Any help is great, thanks. ;P

personally...if i were u id just keep the stock hu until u get ur touchscreen (sony sux, n ur gts hu comes with a built in amp). but to answer ur question, ur gonna have to buy an installation kit and a wiring harness (u can get both from wallmart >$40). first pull off the bottom part of ur centerconsole, the part that goes around the shifter. once u take that out, pull out the 3 selectors for the climate control. behind the temp selector and the vent selector should be 2 screws which u have to remove. once that is taken out, carefully pop the rest of the console out, make sure the disconnect the wires that go to the clock. after thats taken out, the rest is basically selfexplanatory. remove the 4 screws that mount the hu to the car and disconnect the wiring harnesses from the back. take out the new wiring harness u bought and splice the wires to the wires coming out the back of the sony hu. once that is done, slide the hu into installation kit that u bought. plug the wiring harness back to ur stock wires and mount the hu and the installation kit in (should mount back into the stock holes u to ur factory hu our of). once that is done, test it out, make sure everything works n then throw ur center console back on n ur done.

Thanks man.

Earlier I sent my girlfriend over to Best Buy with a piece of paper that said "Install Kit and Wiring Harness for 2000 Celica GTS". Leave it to Best Buy to give her a 87-99 Celica Install Kit and Harness. I come home from work, take it back and they say "We are sold out of 2000 Celica Kits"... so my thoughts were why they would stick her with an 87-99? Makes no sense. So the guy decided to come out and check out my GTS, told me I have to unplug the Input and Output AMP jacks and put them together to bypass the AMP.
