Hey ppl!
I've got a 2000 Celica Auto-Gts and have got a question on the lift that i'm supposedly meant to feel.
I can definately feel it on 1st gear, but nothing is experienced on 2nd gear. I don't know about 3rd or 4th gear cos i haven't gone that fast yet.
Is it only me, or do other people experince this too, b/c apperently the lift in 2nd gear is meant to be the best. thnx

I wouldn't say "lift" is best in any gear. It is the same flywheel HP increase no matter what gear you are in. You feel it more in first because of the gearing in the tranny. In an automatic I wouldn't expect to feel it nearly as much as in a manual. 6000 rpm in 2nd in the 6 speed is 45 mph, for you it's what? About 60 mph, by 60 you have much higher parasitic losses to drag, etc, so the power to the wheels will feel like much less.

make sure you have the pedal floored before you hit 6000rpm. for best results, floor it from 4000rpm and keep it planted the entire time and then you will feel the car pick up at 60-65mph, and it'll also get quite a bit louder.
if you want to make the difference a lot more, get an intake, vvtl-i sounds like a completely different monster with one :D with an intake i've felt lift kick in even in 3rd on the auto GTS (i guess 5th on a 6-speed).
without the intake, you don't really feel it kick in, it's just that before you know it, the car's picking up a whole lot faster and sounds different. even in 3rd. it takes forever to hit 100mph, but when you do, you can feel the car's louder and has no problem picking up more speed.
