How hard can it really be? Swap exhaust manifolds, bolt on turbo, run all the pipes. Tap into oil etc etc

What do you think?

I can tell you what's required on ours, and on a normal kit:

-Remove exhaust manifold, replace with turbo manifold/turbo/downpipe

-Remove and replace fuel injectors, fuel rail, pump, and regulator

-Remove and replace oil pan

-Install oil lines

-Install coolant lines

-Install ECU(s)

-Install piping

-Install intercooler

On many kits, you may also have to perform customization to the exhaust, tap oil lines (or fabricate them entirely), do a lot of tuning, etcetera. A complete kit will eliminate the need for customization. It should be direct bolt-on.

Lesser kits will cost less, but will include less too...

Actually, if you wanna install a f/i setup yourself I would go the supercharger route. They are much easier because its just basically a fan (blower) driven by a belt from the crankshaft that shoves more of the air coming in through your air-intake into the cylinder. The hardest parts of that are making the custom pipeing and mounting the supercharger itself. Take a look at celicauk's job and you can kinda get a good idea about it. His set-up also includes an oil cooler, which just means more piping and mounting. By no means a walk in the park, but it isn't rocket science.

Ya, I didnt understand all this talk about paying 4k dollors for turbo install...on top of the 3600 dollar turbo kit. If you are that into the car to want to put a turbo on it, i would think that you could find a friend and a garage to do the setup yourself, I mean, geez, 4k dollars, It would seem much smarter to install everthing yourself and then pay a pro 100 bucks to do an overview of everthing to make sure everything is hooked up right.

well a basic boltup kit like that would be easy to install yes.. but once you get involved into building the block to hold more power (MORE BOOST) you are talking ALOT of work..

Yeah, building your motor is completley diferent. I just meant installing the basic turbo kit. Building up a motor takes a lot of time. I mean I would never spend a dime to have someone else install a turbo kit. That $4000 can be spent else where! Like JE pistons, cams, etc etc list goes on and on and on! LOL
