What is a good high quality component speaker for our car? I was thinking of getting a set of MB Quart component speakers. Does anyone have these, or know of someone who does? If so, how are they?

I never heard them but I hear the highs are a little harsh. Metal tweets have good sound quality but can be a little bright. Softer tweets like silk have more natural sound and easier on the ears. I have Infinity Kappas, they sound ok. Try Focal or CDT components, I heard good things from them.

The MB Quart tweets are awesome. I highly recommend those tweets.
Just because a tweeter has a hard dome (usually aluminum) doesn't mean they are harsh. My JL XR tweets were aluminum dome, and they were awesome. Some of the cheap brands with hard domes might be harsh, but not the higher end ones.

I have the alpine Type-X components...For the money you cannot do any better. I paid $135 for them. There levels are better then anything else until you look to spned 800 plus dollars on comps.

usually on posts like this you'll hear the usual recommendations
polk
infinity
alpine
focal
mb
cdt
you have to take your preferences into acount. do you want accurate highs or better midbass? like sq said metal domes have a bad reputation but there are many exceptions. however i think the mb's are too sharp to me, but thats my opinion. my diamond audios have metal domes but they sound great. eq is the key
your best bet would be to demo as many sets as you can.

how much do u want to spend? i would spend the most money on the speakers since they are the most imporant part in teh system then concentrate of the install.
