Now I'm not quite sure how to do this but my dad used to do it when he raced his 944 (Porsh) Rothman in the SCCA series;
You know the same water that you spray for you windsheild you can use that same pump and water to cool your brakes.. run a bi-value to split the line so you can have 2 lines ( 1 for each front brake). You can also put in a switch so that you can put it back to your windsheild (THOUGH REMEBER TO CHANGE THE WATER, you use a different type of solution for your windsheild; plane old water for brakes)
Work it down and around so that they are pointing to the center facing outward (center of the rotor). If you have crossdrilled or high-air-flow rotors even better! Then basicaly just bolt it down. There ya go, now I'm not sure how to do this but its an idea, you dont' want to use this on the street unless your running from the cops or something, this is for the autocross or true racers. Your brakes should be at a proper temp to work the best, mostly street pads are to soft anyways, and if you cool them down that is not the proper temp, just when you get them glowing you might wana use this. Just an idea and I doubt many of you have though of this or even imagned it so ... just to bring it up.
Sorry that I couldn't provide more help but he hasn't done it in a while and I just thought of it. Good Luck and take some photos if you do it. I got the pro but you don't and neither does anyone else. Later

Maybe it's just me......but my brakes seems to lose braking power when wet....as in when you go thru a puddle when it's raining....
Anyone else done this?

if your brakes are glowing hot, and they get a little wet, they won't actually get wet. the water will evaporate as steam immediately. i guess this could work, depending on how you dissipate the water onto the brakes.

Couldn't that lead to warped rotors?

Yeah it can.... This is not a smart mod. Best way is to pipe a tube from the front grill to the wheels

Did he say you'd only want OPTIMUM BRAKING POWER when RUNNING FROM THE COPS>>>> WTF... hmmm.. makes you think
i think that his dad might have done something else when he ran his Porsh... hehe..

Re-direct your windshield washer tubes to the bottom of your tire and fill the sump with bleach. BURN OUTS !
JOKING :D

First I thought I would let this ride for a bit. I should have put this in the auto cross sect, now this is was done a 944 porshe that Derek Bell drove, the guy still on today, hes like 60! crazy. but anyways he had already done this and he IS A PRO DRIVER! so dont' critize me. I just saying whats been done, may work or may not, and really you NEVER want to do this on the street. Its just stupid. Plus that running from the cops thing was a joke for those without a sense of humor. Just flip it onto speed vision, this was the guy who I was named after (Derek Bell) and really I think he knows what he is doing along with the rest of his elder race team. Custum built porsh, stock celica.. come on do the math it just might not work genius! I said it in first line almost! LISTEN WHEN TOLD ( I hate stupid people)

First of all, if the water is sprayed upon your rotors while hot (especially after a hard series of auto-x runs or a road coarse) it WILL cause and promote your rotors to warp. Have you ever wondered why they put shields on the backsides of most wheels/rotors on cars with disc brakes? It's to prevent any possible splashed puddles to cause warping on hot rotors. Just think of this way, water cools things down many times faster than air. Think back how you never cool down extrmely hot glass with cold water or how you're not supposed to drink ice cold water after a lot of hot soup.
Finally, your pads (especially more race oriented pads that auto-x people use) have operating heat temps. By spraying water onto your rotors this would then cool down your pads too. Yes it will bring down your temps, but this would actually hamper the braking.
If you really want to promote cooler brakes without having to worry about wreaking your rotors, get them crossdrilled or attempt to be like Porchse and find a way to route incoming air towards your brakes.

I've read about this too. If I remember right, the water is typically sprayed in the ductwork which directs air to the brakes, not sprayed directly into the rotors themselves. The idea is to evaporate the water before it hits the rotors and have cooler air passing through the rotors as a result.

Why won't u just get an upgraded brake kit, like cross drilled rotors, that's they best way to cool down your brakes.
I heard that if you sprayed water on your hot brakes, the rotors might crack

hes got it right, sorry all; hope I didn't cause any damage, I'll check my resources before I say things now. My dad jumped down my throat saying that will do major damage... >>>PLZ DON'T SPRAY DIRECTLY ON ROTORS <<<
Sorry bout all this
