First off, it was a touch deeper sounding than the stock one, but it looks bloody HAWWWT (HOT)!!!

After bout 30min it sounded better, then after 2hrs of driving it sounded pretty damn good!! Sounds especially good when ur ABOUT to hit lift, and when u just start the car, the initial "Brmmmmmmmmmm" of it!!

Enough with ear-aesthetics, power review:

OK... sittin in matts car i could tell it pulls heaps, so much that i could JUST tell when matt hit lift. I was thinking it'd b the same wit mine but i would HEAR it hit lift coz of the CAI.

Well at first i took it easy... and yeh, hit lift and it was good.. definitely more responsive and pulled all the way from 2k-8.4k!! My friend noticed it alot too. So yes yes yes.... definitely more torque-ier in the lower 2/3rds!!!

The transition into LIFT was not as significant (as there is more power in the bottom end now) but u can still feel the kick (and hear it too)... so i would say, the finishing touch to the exhausts "wind up" is the loud scream from a CAI!!!! Bloody music to my ears, a TRD exhaust + AEM CAI would DEFINITELY BE THE AUSTRALIAN IDOL ;)

Without a CAI i'd say would b "BLUE BALLS"... u sound like ur gonna blow... but then nothing ;) HAHAHHAHAHA sorry

Finally got home (1AM) and the exhaust has a nice deep tone, a cool rumble when u rev it on neutral, and did i say it PULLS HARDER THAN A teenage boy in a single sex school?!?!?! haha

RSM "dyno" time:

keep in mind this is just from my rsm, so comparing it with dyno's and sh!t wont b right, but it is in proportion i guess?! (using same measuring instrument)

[mod] [power]

POWERFC: 141ps // 104kW
+AEM CAI: 156ps // 115 kW
+TRD Exhaust: 170+ps (max 177, but consistent low 170s)
// 125kW (130kW max)

So there you have it... a cool ~20ps increase... thats without trying too hard too... (still a bit "timid" after the recent car accidents/deaths)
Only went up to 130 with the exhaust... but the powerFC/AEM CAI i can always get the max ps all the time.

I really need new tyres, i get so much wheelspin 1st-2nd, but thats coz it always lands on 6400-6500... but when it bites... fark the needle flies up to 8300 so quickly!!!

Really happy with it (could b a lil deeper, but hey, its not a wrx hehe)
doesnt sound so ghey like a deep farting lancer/honda

Ummmm... i'll convert the ps into kw's in a few min.

Thats some nice numbers, 125kw at the wheels is quit nice.

Congrad on that, and thanks for posting the dyno results!!

Just to clear things up, it wasnt DYNO'd...

it was just the readings from the A'PEXi RSM (rev speed meter)

Just an approximate measurement.

Happy for you -[ez]- :burnout:

AEM CAI (and TRD Exhaust) really ups the decibels of your ride. I have faith with TRD R&D.

Is your TRD Exhaust, JDM or USDM?

Now if only I can afford one of those....

i think they're JDM, coz they were imported from there.

U should be able to get the exhaust for a great price in NZ??

We get ripped off down here.

In ur sig, it says u have an AEM CAI with ABV?? is that the bypass valve?? what does the 'A' stand for and do u really need it??

I know we can usually beat v6's, but thought i'd say i ran a p-plater and his gf just a few min ago. 3 times up to 140, he had a VP commodore with exhaust and he gunned it at the lights so i caught up and won.

(He started it, i was actually tryin to save petrol this week, he tried to run me into a parked car coz he didnt let me merge the dog!!!!)

2nd run i won from 2nd gear on (2 or so cars)

3rd run i launched like a normal drive (ie: not racing) and when he floored it i thought i'd try, and man i love the exhaust.... just had so much low end power that i was neck & neck in 1st, and once i changed to 2nd (in lift) i just pulled away, it was like a bloody movie!! haha (3-4 car lengths)

his gf's smile disappeared just as quick, coz they were laughing at me earlier (is it a CRIME to drink STRAWBERRY NESQUIK at the lights??? LOL)

road was too wet for a good launch :(

then after that he hastily did a u-turn.... i think he actually went out of the way to run me?!

(all 3 runs my 0-100 on the rsm read around 7.2sec.... i should make it into the 6's on a dry road and new tyres easily!!!)

i think that is the by pass valva you could get on the 1st gen cai so that it would suck air in half way up the pipe if you managed to submerge your cai.

Good things don't come cheap eh? Especially if they're from TRD . At least we're better off than the Hondaboys going for their Mugen counterpart :applaud:

The last time I checked it still costs a lot more to get them officially in New Zealand, then say Hong Kong.

Back then though there were hardly any Celicas in town... Those that were seen always had a cute chicky at the driver's seat, or otherwise an elderly citizen (with all respect) :gap: .Needless to say there were little demand for aftermarket parts. Our GST at 12.5% doesn't help either. What's the GST in Oz?

Unfortunately, the Air-Bypass-Vavle was never installed on my Celica. I got it together with the AEM CAI when they were fresh out from the States. Too bad early on there were no indication from AEM that the ABV will not work/fit on our Celica model :(

Back to the subject I've yet to see a Celica with TRD exhaust in New Zealand. I've listened to many sound clips to this date, but yet to hear a real one by my ears.

Our gst is 10%, and i dont think we need the ABV... well it doesnt rain that bad here?? Maybe for u guys it does, but when its really heavy here i just go slower.

Same deal her, hardly any celi's driving around.... in my suburb i've seen like a permanent 5 or so... i always see 3 often, prolly weekly, 2000zr's... a black one and a red one.

In the city there's 3 very nice celis (no wing, and on its belly!!) but they belong to international students i think.

but yeh, its good having a celi, not many around, u'd prolly see 1 a day if ur lucky and that way we are also VERY UNDERESTIMATED hehehe

Hey EZ have you tuned your powerFC to the CAI and TRD Exhaust... If not wait until thats done properly man, the celica then actually becomes a FAST car. :-)

Bump the redline up too man, the power DOES NOT DROP OFF, it just keep going and goin and goin... its great!!!

Im like you too, in need of new tyres, the old Falkens just dont cut it FWD with that much power, im looking at some new silicas atm...

The TRD muffler I bought early this year which came from America because it worked out to be cheaper then buying it from Toyota dealer ($3000) and NZ.

There is a better throttle feel and there is a small differences in fuel comsumption.

How much are the DC headers?

Cost about $470 shipped, maybe $200+ to install. I aint even trying, I just installed front & back ES poly engine mount inserts so I know how much room is back there!
I finally got em last night. I take back what ever I said about them coz the quality is awesome! Just one thing though, the centre dividers in the collecter have some bulky welding around them that could account for some restriction. Should be ok though.
I've got new gaskets and bolts already so I'm probably doing the install tomorrow. I'll be getting a dyno tune soon after.

I will keep you guys updated....(not like Sharmz!)
