264.6whp/298.4wtq - This was one of our best pulls with just the AGP WGA controlling boost, boost was set at 18psi and dropping down to 15psi after 5500rpms until redline. Other mods were CTI 3" turbo back exhaust, K&N filter, ATP UPP with Turbo XS BOV, AGP BOP, plugs set at .040".
The numbers are from a SRT-4 that did a 12.39 down the 1/4mi. Is it the tq thats helping her out here? I dont think a celica with same hp would pull same numbers with same driver of SRT-4. Correct me if im wrong.

it can and it will :) the thing about the celica is that its light so it doesn't need much torque to make it move. The biggest problem is getting traction which most likely will mean upgrading the axle so you can run slicks...thats what I think. Oh and at first I thought those were your numbers, I'm like damn, thats a load of torque, :)
hey get a video of your tach flooring it, :) i would love to see the tach move up in a blink of an eye. :D good luck with your project

Um yes the torque is what is helping out here in that situation. That is an ungodly amount of torque especially on a light ass car. I have yet to see a Celica with anywhere even close to that amount of torque. I think the closest is the guy that is making 304whp. He has like 249 ft. lbs. of torque at X amount or RPMS. However he is only running 9.20's in the 1/8th mile which is not all that good considering I can run a 10.17 in my stock fully loaded auto GT. I think he has some issues that need worked out somewhere. Plus it didn't hlp that he ran on 18's and crappy street tires. With that kind of power he should be at least well into the 8's in the 1/8th mile in a 2500 pound car. I dunno what the deal is there. However, I think if he had run the 1/4 mile and solved his traction issues then he would be much happier. The Celica is not an 8th mile car. I wouldn't be surprised to see him run a low low 13 in the quarter with good traction on a good day. Hell he might even break into the high 12's. I think he just needs to tune it some more and solve his traction problems.
It is vey possible to get a Celica into the 12's. It will not be easy but it is possible. I think the SRT4 is just getting a nice balance of everything. It has just the right amount of weight to offset its power and traction just to the point where it can run a good time like that. All of these Celica owners are making say 304whp in a light ass FWD car. In other words a Celica making say 250whp and 220 ft. lbs. of torque could possible run with a SRT4 making over 300whp and roughly 300ft.lbs. of torque. It really depends on the power to weight ratio and I am not familiar with how much an SRT4 weighs here.
Here is another scenario let us assume you have a Celica making 250whp and roughly 220 ft. lbs. of torque that weighs in a 2500 pounds even. Onthe others side of the track you have a Slutstang weighing in at 5000 pound even making 500whp and 300 ft. lbs. of torque. I would be willing to be it would be a damn close race reason being the power to weight ratio. The Mustang weighs twice as much so it will need, theoretically, 2 times the amount of power the Celica has to propel it to the same speed as the Celica within the same amount of time. Now this is assuming that both cars hook and go which is not 100% plausible in a real life situation. All of you FWD guys no this.

what was the guys 60's 1/8's and trap speeds?
i hate random 1/4 figures and no traps.
and jeff ran 13.6 at 2700ft elevation @ 104 with about 250-260whp and 190-195 wtq. with a 2.0 60'
at sea level that would place him close enough to scratch 12's with a better 60.
I'm also guessing the srt4 was on slicks. I have yet to see a 2zz powered celica hit the 1/4 on drag slicks.

ok a few things. First the time was 12.654 not 12.39 sorry.
Heres a vid of the run, looking at the tires i dont think they are slicks, but i could be wrong.

So once power is dialed in and tranny issue is solved, it looks like traction is the next victim for us to kill...hurdles, got to love'em. But thats what makes it fun to a degree i guess. Im assuming there are no aftermarket axels out for the celica either...hmmmm gas i need to ask you something..;)
not my car but a celica making the needles move;)

the celica's axles are very beefy haven't heard of anyone boosted or not that has actually broken one due to drag racing.

My car was tuned at MonkeyWrenchRacing so I dont think tuning is an issue, because if tuning was an issue i dont think i would see HP numbers like I am because its 304whp at only 14lbs and it was tuned to run 20lbs. Ive gotten 324whp out of it but dont really want to even mention it cuz i dont have the dyno sheet to post, so the only other dyno ive done was at 304..
My main problem is traction... I went to the track with heavy 18" rims and low profile tires and really didnt go to set records or break anything for that matter.. I am working on getting a set of slicks and I am POSITIVE i can get mid 13s out of it, and you were right its definitly not an 1/8th mile car...
