yea i have an aftermarket head unit....yes help me with everything heheh;)...do i have to get an amp kit to run from my battery through the firewall and stuff?...

NOTICE: all instructions are stated as to what i did. I nor newcellica.org are not responsible to anything that happens to your car. If you have never done a car install and do not feel comfortable in doing this take it to a professional.


the new hu should have audio out ports. this iis the fiirst thing to check for. The amp will go somewhere in your truck. You wil most certainly need an amp kit. depending on the wattage of your amp wi determine the kit guage. anything over 500+ get a 4 guage, 250-500 you can get 8 guage, under 250 you can get 10. I would suggest getting 4 guage just because sometime down the road you may want to add another amp and instead of running more wire you can buy a distributer and branch off the 4 guage.

Install amp:
1. remove neg battery connector, then positive and remove battery. mae sure the rods don't fall into the car.
2. locate the best place to run the wire. check out the install section on running wiire through firewal.
2a. replace battery when this is complete.
2b. do not hook up amp wires yet.
3. remove driver door sill.
4. run power and remote wire through here.
5. back seat[2 options]
a. remove back seat, see install section on installing rear speakers
b. tuck wires behind the seat.[much easier]
6. patch wire[2 options]
a. remove passenger door sill
b. tuck wire under center console
7. repeat step 5
8. running wire for amp complete

install hu:
1. remove old hu
2. put the ebrake on and put the car into N
3. pull up on the bezel around the shifter. one removed put car into park and remove ebrake. unpug cig lighter and place aside.
4. remove climate control knobs and unsrew.
5. pull up on center bezel and the whole unit should come out.
6. with 10 mm socket remove old HU. remove plugs.
7. new HU, connect the wire harness to new hu wires.
connect the patch cable from amp install to plugs in bac of hu and conntect the ant and wire plugs.
8. hu install complete.
9. turn the car on to make sure that everthing works.

connecting the amp;
1. find a groud for the amp. i used the anchor clip to ground the amp. make sure that you unsrew the bolt and scrape off "ALL" the underpaint. i had trouble with mine because not al the paint was scraped off.
2. connect the wires to the amp, power to power, ground to ground, ect.
3. install fuse and turn on car. turn on radio and be sure that it is not set at a high volume.

if everything work then put back everything in reverse order. if not something got messed up along the way. if this happens you should try to troube shot your problem. if not take it to best buy or circut city and have them do iit.
