im fixing to put a NOS system on my 01 GT... only wanna run either a 50 or 75 shot... any reason i shouldnt? everything is basically stock, so would i be looking a detonation if i did? im also planning on adding a turbo next month, so NOS would be more for show than go... any comments? :bang: :puke:

Its cool and all that you want to do this BUT ... i think nitrous is enough. The turbo alone is pushing the compresion ratio .... or maybe you can do a 50 shot with the turbo ... i think that would be safe ... but no more than 50.
I say do the nitrous at 50 ... if you like more go 75 .. if You are really gonna get this turbo (custom) ... be carfull on the shots.

so, a fifty to 75 shot of n20 alone will not hurt my engine... sorry, im just really worried about messing up the engine in my only car... especially when i dont have the money for a new one... i just cant stand not being able to go fast when i wanna...

hey everyone! according to the number of posts i've made(1,2)
i look like a newbie, but i 've bin doin a lot of readin in this forum since i got my celi gt back in 1999.(nov.) any how larryd or anyone else w/ nitrous, i jus got my nx import kit for my car. i even bought the gen x 2 upgrade kit to run everything efficiently as possible. i have an injen cold air, 5zigen exhaust, twm ss, and hs headers on the way. i didnt happen to catch what type or kind of spark plugs to use or gapping distance. any info? also, what shot should i use? since the nitrous kit is adjustable do you suggest i use smallest shot at first or go ahead and use a bigger shot? is installation all that complicated? i read the directions plenty of times so i could damn near install without em but are there any real life problems i could run into? did you run steel braided hoses in/outside of car? what do you suggest? larryd, i read a thread about using a window switch. is that the same thing as the wot or wide open throttle switch that came w/ my kit? sorry for making all of you read so much but i wouldnt have made a post if i was sure about what im doin. much thanks!!!

Thats cool that you went with the extra GenX2 kit for max performance. I myself am in the same boat as you. I should get my kit in the next week!

As for a window switch. I ordered that aswell...just to be on the safe side! I went with the MSD one for about 60US. After that...I ordered a set of 3000-4000rpm pills, as well as 7000-8000pills. I want my nitrous to kick in at 3600rpm's, and stop at either 7800 or 8000rpms. Investing (IMO) in a window switch is just making your kit that much safer. For the money spent on the kit...might aswell spend an extra $100 for the added safety of the window switch. :)

If you only settle with the WOT switch...you have to be carefull not to floor it below 3400rpm's, and you definently cant floor it near redline...nothing worse than nailing your rev limiter under full nitrous....

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

NP man, glad I could help in any way!

The RPM Pills, I got them from summitracing.com. You can get anywhere from 2000rpm all the way to 10000+rpm's! The come in a set of 5. If you get the 3000rpm pills, you will get 3000, 3200, 3400, 3600 and 3800 pills. Same with the 6000ones.

Price wise, you are looking at approx $20 for the set of 5 pills.

this is funny cause im gettin the same thing monday nx kit with the genx2. only thing i aint get was the window switch i had n20 before and im pretty confident in myself to be careful. but i was thinkin it can't hurt nothin to get it so im prolly gonna. i would reccomend 2 degrees colder plug gapped at .30 or .030 somthin like that. NOT platinum or dub platinum. if you get a bosch plug there is no need to go colder just get the same as yur stock plug only for bosch though.

IRL, do you already have the MSD switch installed? Or is it on the way?
I was under the impression that it won't work on our cars.

actually unless they have changed it the MSD window switch doesnt work with the Celica for some reason about not enough voltage.. someone here worked with MSD for months trying to get theres working right and finally did..

I suggest getting the Mallory Window switch as the price is cheaper for one and it doesnt require pills.. it has a spin dial inside that you change to change what RPM things happen.. with the Mallory switch you need to wire an inline horn relay to regulate the voltage but its only a couple bucks.. the instructions that come with it explain this relay..

Its actually on its way right now...I heard something about it not working properly with the tach signal on the Celica...but I also heard that it "would" work if you tagged the tach signal coming from one of the injectors instead.

One way or another I will get the damn thing to work...you can count on it!
