Pretty tight project Matrix at the Denver Auto Show, courtesy of TRD and JBL. There were three other Matrix as well--largest presence Toyota had at the show.

Interesting how different the Matrix engine bay looks compared to the Celica.

I think the engine is placed in there opposite of ours. The intake manifold on the back and exhaust on the front. Lotta cars do this, ours is actually the weird, though probably more efficient, design.

i'm pretty sure the layout is the same as the celica.

The intake duct would seem to indicate that the engine is transversely situated. This does seem kinda bizarre considering how the Celica is designed. Unless of course the intake runners go the opposite direction of the Celica. But again it looks like the intake ducts go to the rear of the engine bay (which would put the intake runner in the opposite direction if the engine is transverse).

hmm thats different. well, i dont think its not the xrs model (180hp), maybe its the awd model i've hearing about. i saw the xrs turbo at the spring break/super street show and the engine look'd very very close to the gt-s (minus the turbo). hmmmm ill have to look at a base model at the dealership and see if the engine is setup like that one.

Good call Brak; that is indeed the IS300. I can see the Lexus logo on one of the engine plastics.

I took some of the pictures out of order and picked it up by accident. I'll recheck the pictures, and pull out the Matrix pictures again.

I wonder if it would look creative to have racing seats for the passengers at the back??????????????????????
