Having problems eith the RS3200 system on my 2000 GTS (42,000 miles). It used to work just fine, but lately it will only intermittantly lock with the ignition and will never unlock.

I've followed all the programming steps and if I get in the car, turn the key to "on" the doors lock. If I turn thhe key back off the doors unlock (so far so good). if I actually start the car the doors will not unlock. This is a reproducible error.

Anyone know of a way to reset the system, or is this going to require a trip to the dealership...

Sorry Scott, that sounds like more than a programming issue, can't help. :(

A trip to the dealer will probably equal half the cost of a aftermarket alarm system. If no one can help or Toyota charges too much, I suggest you just get a basic DEI alarm such as Viper installed for $200. All the common feature plus it's much better then the stock VIP.

that's how alarm suppose to work
start the car and it stays lock
when the car is off it unlock
all of my friends are like that and they all had different alarm
there should be any problem.

i think that somethin is wrong with the unit itself...
if the car is still under warranty it should be ok...
however if u decide to change to after market alarm system...
i have rs3200 brain and the transmitters so u can just swap them with yours...
i still think rs3200 on celica has much more features than after maket one deos...
good luck...

and these features are........? let me tell you what mine does so you can compare: auto lock/unlock with ingition. shock sensor, dual zone radar, hood sensor, voltage meter, displays the last time the alarm went off and WHY it went off, has the ability to control your stereo with your remote, can control windows remotely, can page you when it goes off. I don't want to keep typing but the point is my old rs3200 that was factory installed didnt do jack except functinon as keyless entry.

autxr: that's how mine works....turn the key on, doors lock, turn it to off, unlock, start the car they lock....It's been like that since I bought the car.
As for OEM vs Aftermarket alarms....I dont care anymore, no alarm is gonna keep a thief from taking the car or breaking your $hit in........the pager deal...lets say you are in a movie, u r paged, you run out of the theater, get to your car...the bastards are gone, your $hit is broken....what did the pager do to help?....Nowadays, no one gives a damn about an alarm going off, is just another noise in the street, another nuisance....that's all.

Bottom line, IMO, let it work as is....but if it bothers you, get it checked or get another alarm, cuz the dealer will charge up the a$$ for diagnosis....

call toyota customer service for the alarm system-the number is on the warranty card for the alarm system- you need to program the system over- they will provide better info-
