well, you guys were right; he said the scion was replacing the celica. ANYWAY, they gave me a prius for a rental car. it is pretty cool. it is one ugly piece of work from the outside but it has a really cool liquid touch screen that operates everything from the climate to the radio. I really liked it. if I was to get a hybrid car, that would be it. the engineer was a really cool dude. he told me that they were thinking about bringing back the supra and that the tacoma was going to be redesigned or something. and after they looked at it, they even gave me a free alignment ON TOP OF the $200 for all the trouble, praise God for it all. anyway, just thought I would post what happened.

Well, the Tacoma is definitely gonig to be redesigned this year, with a high performance version called the X-Runner that can be supercharged to 300hp stock. Stock handling is even slightly better than a stock Celica, as well.

All that is old news. The new "Supra" has been testing for months now and it won't have the Supra name. It will get a change like the Integra did when it was called the RSX. Tacoma is coming in an XRunner platform like blue said.

One thing that I have yet to see mentioned on the board yet, but I'm pretty sure is safe to say. Lexus is coming out a high end (as if the brand wasn't high end enough on it's own) brand of tuned Lexus cars. Basicly it will be like AMG is to Mercedes. The cars are going to have big horsepower numbers and be nicely modified. This isn't like that cosmetic L-Tuned crap they have now. We're talking a production LS with a 4.7 motor hitting the 600 Hp range and selling at $100k+.

Models included will be the new IS, new GS, and LS.

A while back they dubbed the next "Supra" the 3000GT... probably will resemble a 2000GT of the past. That'd be sweet, a futuristic looking 2000GT (like the new GT40s and Mustangs resemble the classics)

Ford is the only company that I can say has really pulled off retro styling. The stang, Cobra, and GT all look great. Dodge is getting there with their Magnum, but they failed miserably with the PT cruiser series. Chevy's SSR is a debatable disaster. But hey, at least they mad the attempt.

As cool as it would be to see a retro GT from Toyota, I just don't think it will happen.

well the thing about the GT is that the styling was far ahead of its time that it would look in place rite about now... i wouldnt exactly call it retro.

the pt cruiser looks like ass. i think thats what he meant. have to disagree with the magnum tho.... looks more like their older dodge ram trucks with the giant grille in the middle than anything retro that i've seen...

i could be wrong... im not into muscle cars

i could be wrong... im not into muscle cars Styling a vehicle today to look like a vehicle 30 years ago is retro. Plain and simple. And I wouldn't call the styling ahead of it's time. Ferrari had the GTO out in '62 and Lambo had the Miura out in '66. Maybe for Ford it was ahead of it's time, but in no way for automotive styling history was it ahead of it's time. I would give it to you for ground breaking race performace at Le Mans, but that's it.

And the PT is weak. Sure it sold okay at the beginning, but it was styled after hot rods of the 30s. But then they made it FWD with a pathetic 4. That's like if Ford made the GT sell at 20k with a mustang V6 and FWD. It just doesn't work. It's a joke really.

But I do give it back to Dodge for the Magnum. The wanted the feeling that the Judge gave customers back in the day. Awesome, stand out paint, on a low, wide, chop top beast with RWD, great suspension, decent brakes, and big ass HEMI V8 under the hood. I mean the thing is a dodge charger muscle car of 2004 with room for the kids.

I thought all the talk about the new Supra was related to it being badged as a Lexus??

I heard you were smoking crack. I also heard that you should do research before posting.

2005 Tacoma X-Runner: 0-60 in 7 seconds, or 6 seconds with the TRD Supercharger.
2003 350Z: 0-60 in 5.4 seconds stock N/A

im not an engineer or anything, but isn't a tacoma a truck? and isnt a 350Z a performance sports car? i wouldnt think the two would be in comparable classes...traditionally, when one is looking to purchase a car, they dont say, well this truck is better and purchase a truck. and vis versa. when you start saying stuff like that, you can always find a better vehicle. its a matter of finding the best car in a particular class...but i dont make the rules...

The X-Runner will beable to handle well for any stock vehicle and accelerate decent for a smaller class truck.

That should be a cool one. I heard it's got like over 300 horse-power or something from the Acura dealer.

Looked on Edmunds and it just acts like it's an ordinary gas engine. I guess we'll find out when 2005 RL comes out.

Proof? Not that I doubt you, I just haven't seen any news about this before now. Especially the Supra. I have seen many concepts but none of them were realistic.

Debatable? The six month reserve of cars isn't a clincher?
