Personally, I'd stay away from EIP and Altered Atmosphere I've heard nothing but bad stuff about both. Swift Racing works mostly with Lexus cars, but they seem to have a turbo kit for the celica (but their website has some issues ). One of the local guys was looking into getting a turbo done there, but I haven't heard from him in a while.

They prolly can, but if you can find someone who actually knows the software, he would have a better chance of getting the optimal map as they already know the software and it's limitations.

seems like everyone lists what they know and no one has emanage listed, its not a stand alone so i can't see why anyone that tunes couldn't tune it. if not i have to send it to mwr untill someone around here gets some smarts on the emanage. No one in the maryland/nj/pa/wv/del. area has a emanage?? if so where did you tune it and install??

altered atmosphere quoted me, 285.00 to tune and between 285-340 for install. i just glad i found someone, EIP sorry bast**ds said absoutly not, could have just said we have no knowledge on the emanage, they made it seem like the emanage was a piece of crap. i emailed agile but no response, off to gaithersburg i go.

^^ that sounds like altered atmosphere is trying to rip off people on the install. In LA where the prices are high, I've asked around and several places have said $120-$160. Pay them on an hourly basis and don't let them take their sweet time. Just mount the box yourself...don't pay anyone to drill. All they have to do is make electrical connections...you can test to see if they did it correctly. Don't pay them to test. If they didn't make the connections right, they should fix it and you shouldn't have to pay. What happened to professionalism in the auto industry? Is it that rare? I hope not.

this is why so many people start teaching themselves how to do all kinds of installs and dyno-tuning...it's all the B.S. they would have to put up with if they went to a shop that might even screw things up. trdnerd just get order the book "Building and Tuning High-Performance Electronic Fuel Injection" by Ben Strader off of www.Amazon.com or www.walmart.com . Just pay for dyno time and do the tuning yourself. Just ask people for advice on this site who have dyno-tuned a GT.

i don't want to screw up things so i going to ask around some more to see if i can find it cheaper for install

^^ don't just ask, they'll tell you what they want to get.
You have to negotiate...list in front of the things they have to
do (yes you must be knowledgeable or you will be taken advatange of) Tell them it should take no more than 2 hours, right? Get them to agree. Whip out a paper for them to sign that the job will be completed within such and such a time. Find out their hourly rate at this time(R). R x T = payment for the job. If the job is not completed in that time, estimate what percentage of the job is done, say 90%). Pay them 90% of RT . Do they want the last 10% ? Well, they will have to finish the job. This method of the client staying in control sure beats the shop having control and upping the cost up by taking longer than they should.

The critical point was the determination of the items involved to be installed affecting the total time - T. And then in the determination of their rate (might want to have someone call in anonymously before you go). RT together is power because that is the bare minimum they should be paid for a successful job. They will only be paid for the amount they complete. Don't let them quote huge numbers and say that's the job price.
Or Don't let them say the hourly rate is.....so it might take 3, or 4 or 5 hours even......!

Negotiations 101 hehee

Does this kind of make sense? Sorry if it doesn't since I took a sleeping pill several minutes ago and am having trouble typing and thinking....uh I know sadistic...right? fight the sleeping pilll!!!!! lol.... ok, I better drop it for now....or I will just drop on the floor.:)

No more "ask and I'll see what they say" mentality. No More.

Bottom Line:
Think Terminator as a Lawyer/Statesman. ARNOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Identify your target price and lock that and them down in writing.
Don't give them a choice if they want your assets.
It has to be done your way.
Control the environment and put pressure on your opponents.

You will have them sign to this: Job price will not exceed agreed upon amount. Once the time frame has expired, payment will be given on a percentage basis of what has been finished.

(Just practice talking to people w/o seeming overtly aggressive)

I'm guessing business is kind of slowing down in the auto industry heading toward the end of summer. If they want your business they can be cool and do it your way. Don't ever think of yourself as a customer in a store. No. You always your own broker working with another broker to reach an agreement (in which you won!)

Practice Practice Practice---------->Good Deal
