Can anyone tell me how to (cleanly) remove the word "Toyota" from my rear hatch? I think it's just glued on, but I'm worried about the residue. Thanks.

You are right, the emblems are simply glued to the surface of the car. The best way to remove the emblem is to heat it up with a hair dryer or something to loosen the adhesive. Then simply start at a corner and pry the thing off.
There are lots of ways to remove the adhesive thats left behinde. It may simpley come off when washing your car. If it doesn't, I would reccomend that you use a claybar to remove it.

yeah use the hair dryer to he heat it up after like say 3mins it ges squishy then you take some plain dental floss use it like you would cut meat with the rope and comes off nice and clean nothing leftover becarefull with the dental floss cuz you can scratch your car so pull away from the car and be gental if it gets hard again use the hair dryer again
I've done this before. Just use some powerful solvent (e.g. Dupli-Color Grease and Wax Remover), one that is designed to remove wax but not strip the paint. A soft toothbrush is good for scrubbing the residue, comes clean off. You will have to rewax the affected area.

Actually, if you really want a clean peel and less worry about scratching the paint while trying to use solvent to remove the adhesive, simply use a hairdryer, and heat that sucker up evenly for about 20 seconds. Afterwards, start prying it from one side gently. The adhesive should come up and stick to the plastic badge. Then, while that side is up, use the hairdryer, and hold it over the adhesive, and pry it off slowly one side to the other. If you do it properly, the entire adhesive should come off with the badge, leaving no gunk behind. If it does, use the solvents that people mentioned in the earlier replies. Good luck.

Thanks, everybody. A combination of dental floss and pulling worked great.
