I was doing a search on lift bolts but my question still remains unanswered. I will be changing out my lift bolt

I notice that the one I picked up is different from the one in my car originally.
the one that is blunt is the one that is in my car. I am wondering if this is a part change. the blunt one has lasted me 30,000 miles so far and I am worried that the new one, if it is indeed a new one, might be less durable from what I'm hearing about people checking it every other oil change and seeing wears.

the new ones will most likely last longer than the old ones. thats why they changed them.

That was done in late 01, but the change hasn't stopped the bolts from breaking. :(

Has anyone had them break without taking them out? I'm starting to think that they are braking when we take them out because they have been weakened by the wear.

I honestly can't see that happening. Once the bolt is broken loose, there is no stress on the threaded part at all. All the stress is on the bolt head.

i suggested that a while back... that's what it seems like to me, but the general consensus back then was, that the bolts couldn't break coming out... i'm not convinced yet...

I am going to be taking mine out soon and replacing them with the new ones I just got from Toyota, any tricks on how to do it without the least likely chance of it breaking?

The bolts usually break were the threads meet the non threaded part correct? This is the weakest portion of any bolt. Also the failure doesn't seem to have any beach marks indicating a failure over time (I've only seen pictures though). It would be nice to see a microscopic view of the bolt to analyze the failure more.
