If you crave for low end torque, supercharing is the way to go. Power on tap as soon as your feet touch the acelerator.

Turbo are better suited for strong midrange to high power applications.

Intake and exhaust mods make most difference in the top end of the power curve.

On my car the TRD exhaust made NO appreciable difference below 6000 rpm.

Dyno proven.

The way to make more torque at any RPM is to get more air and fuel in the engine and properly mixed. Fored induciton is very good at this, a different cam profile might do it. The AEM intake makes a bigger difference than any exhaust I have seen.

In my opinion, the Celica already has ample lowend torque.........for a Naturally Aspirated 1.8L engine.

I don't think you're going to see much more lowend torque without increasing the displacement, adding forced induction, or swapping the engine for something bigger.

But in my mind, the fact that it's so light and the engine revs so high completely overcomes the lowend deficiency. Of course, I have a 6 speed, so ample power is always only a quick double-clutched downshift away :D.

I'm thinking of paying 2 people to push the car for the first 2 seconds then jump in, very much in the style of Olympic bobsledders.

Your really not gonna get a hell of alot of low end torque only because your limited by your 1.8L's.
If you wanted more low end torque you'd have to increase displacement

if you got I/E and tuned your car with an AFC, you might squeeze a little low end out of there, but you're not going to get anything noticeable without increasing displacement or forced induction (turbo, s/c, nos). but nos is for racing, and if you're drag racing a manual celica, you shouldn't be at the low end at all. launch at high rpm, and stay at high rpm.

for everyday driving low end torque, supercharger would be your best bet. but there isn't one available.

The idea is like asking for more peak horsepower on a school bus. You bought the wrong car.

My exhaust system made more low end torque over stock, and more high end power of TRD.

Check it out http://www.remleyracing.com/dyno/index.html

Dumbass. Don't you know that torque IS HORSEPOWER? Just imagine a celica with 50 more lbs of torque and the same top end... You'd be .3-.4 faster in the quarter mile

The AEM CAI made a noticeable improvement in low end torque. It's still not that great, but definitely stronger then stock

hehe you definitely bought the wrong car if you want torque. Celicas are high revvers and couldn't tow a skateboard if they wanted to~ :sad

It's a pretty good trade off though. Who needs low end torque when you can rev to 8,000 rpms.

Only a Idiot who knows nothing about engine's would say that.
Remember that Prelude video where it beat the Celi out of the hole and held him off? That's because of low end TORQUE numbnuts

i thought that was cuz the prelude could launch and the celica couldn't :)

i have a video of a GTS burning a prelude from start to finish on the way to a 14.2 or 14.1 (billybrun).
