Whats the best way to take off the fuel door?

My gf has a matrix and the fuel door is rivited like our cars... Do i have to DRILL out the rivits to take off the fuel door? or can i go in the back of the fuel tank and pop them off or something? i am replacing her fuel door since it got dented... any ideas on how to take off the fuel door and install?

Or my only alternative is buying a riviting gun or body shop? When i install the replacement fuel door i want it to look as clean as possible... not bolted on with nuts and bolts

Have to drill them out but be very carefull and take your time whilst doing this. used a 8mm drill to do mine. You will have to take out he rear plastics to pick up the other side of the rivit which will fall down.
Edit:- you will require a rivit gun to revivit the new cover

all you have to do is get a drill with a fairly large drill bit and drill the center. the mistake i made when i drilled mine was trying to drill out the center of the rivit with a bit that was as small as the center. use one thats going to cover almost the whole rivit.

keep in mind, you destroy the rivit to take it off... my suggestion is going to autozone and buying a cheap rivit gun (10 bucks) that comes with rivits.
