I am currently purchasing a corolla XRS with the 2z-ge engine rated at 170hp.
Now after much reading i have come to the conclusion that this car would greatly benefit from I/H/E and a Power FC now my question comes in to say is there anyone in the atl area or a days drive from atl that can assist in the tuning on the Power FC.
On a side note what is the redline of the 2zz motor the Corolla hase a redline just oast 8k closer to 8200 or maybe 8400 not sure.
Thanx guys for helping me out and i look forward to beign a active member of these boards for some time now.

PFC won't work its a DBW throttle.

they really love that new system. lol maybe apexi will make a DBW friendly version since toyota is makin so many models with the 2zz dbw.
then all they'd have to do is sell a seperate adapter to fit each style harness.
something tells me that might not happen though. lol at least not for awhile.

You are challenging Boosted? you dont know who your messing with...if he says its DBW then its DBW...
But lets say it isnt..the PFC still probally wont work because the harness will be different...same reason it dosent work on the Matrix XRS

I've noticed that only the Celica got a DBW system on the 2zz.....all the other 2zz's are still cable.

Doh - hes right - my bad - I knew the 05 Corollas had gone DBW but apparently its only the 1ZZ - the 2ZZ is still cable. Go figure.
So yeah - worst case scenario you may have to build and adapter harness or something if the plugs and wiring locations aren't correct.
As for the redline - mechanical redline of the 2ZZ is like 8500/8600 max with stock hardware. Valves can float as early as low 9K range so if you want to spin it up the upgraded springs from monkeywrench would be a very good idea.
Again sorry on the DBW thing - I should have been more thorough and actually checked into it.
BTW - anyone with a 05 1ZZ rolla - y'all are screwed :) They DEFINITELY have DBW

Its all my fault bro - Normally I would double check that sort of thing, but since the Celi is DBW and I had heard that the 'Rolla went DBW it didn't even occur to me to check if the XRS was diferent

Corolla needs to change the harness... Somebody with Corolla that came to this board (forgot who it was) put a 1ZZ ECU in his 1ZZ Corolla, the car ran harder but he lost his reverse, not sure if this is true because I only heard him post this info on the board once.

You need a corolla harness for Unichip...
BTW I find the name Unichip misleading, it still uses stock ECU so that is 2 chip not 1 :chuckles:

it's 1 chip that changes the stock ecu :) they dont call standalones chips so I dont think the stock ecu would count as a "chip"
