Ok, this kinda sucks... but it's not too bad. I was driving to work this morning and all of a sudden, my check engine light goes on. So, I take it to Page Toyota and 30 mins later they call me back saying it was all done. I go over there and they told me that it was a stored code and that the tech hooked it up to the diagnostic tool and it said that there was a problem with the evap system and that there was a possible leak somewhere. Well, according to the service person, it may have been just a fluke cuz the tech couldn't find any leaks at this time. Anyway, I had to pay $40 to have a damn code removed!!! So, I'm just wondering if this is a common problem. Also, should I be at all worried? They said that if it comes on within 60 days, they'll check it free of charge and if it's related to my current problem and they actually have to fix something, then the $40 will go towards the repair. So, what do you guys think?

Did you fill up your car shortly before the code was thrown? Sometimes, a loose gas cap will prevent the tank from pressurizing, which will cause the EVAP code to be thrown.

I usually reset the ecu and see if the code comes back before ploppin money on a fix. You never know if it's just the ecu acting flakey on you.
