We finally had an event that wasn't raining or freezing cold.
Interesting 55 sec course with a blind gate hidden by a lightpole until you got around a tight sweeper at the beginning, you had to memorize the line to get through quickly. Then a decreasing 4 cone slalom, couple of strong offsets and a lane change leading into a large sweeper. Another fast (3rd gear or a couple bangs on the RL at the entrance) 6 cone slightly decreasing slalom before a pair of very strong offsets (Chicane) then three more offsets along with a tight finish box.
There was no rythym to the first 1/2, But the second 1/2 was much better.
I finished 1st and Driver second in GS, but still 2 sec PAX slower than Tim Aro's CS spyder's runs. I know I left at least a full second out there by over braking, not trusting the grip. This was the first time this season that the tires actually got warm enough to grip on asphalt, so I was over cautious. Scott, you missed a good one!
Gotta wait two weeks before the next one :(

Sounds like a good event. I ended up skipping it to go back to my college days. I took a road trip to Columbia, SC to meet up with some friends. Friday we made some serious headway on a keg of NewCastle (7 of us) until about 3 am Saturday morning. We then teed up 18 holes a noon on Saturday, afterwards heading to a sports bar to watch some of the NCAA tournament. After dinner and a couple of Red Bulls & Vodka, we proceeded to take cabs downtown to play some chit chat with the ladies. Univ. of South Carolina women are pretty darn incredible; more so after 5 pints of Guinness! 2 am took cabs home and kicked the keg of Newk playing asshole until 5 am. Sunday, we actually made our 10:18am tee times.... I got back late Sunday night, tired and stinky, yet it was the first trip I've had in the last couple of years that I wouldn't rather be autocrossing....

yea, im loving this nice weather here in GA too. our event last sunday was good for the most part except having to work for i think almost 3 hours, that got really old. part of that included putting up with a few kids running 200+ second jr. kart runs (no offense to them, but it just took entirely too long). but other than and having to run on 18's again while i save $ for azenis' it was fun.

The results of this Virginia Motor Sport Club (VMSC) event are posted at http://www.vmsc.org/results/2002/2002_03_24/index.html . It was the first VMSC event of 2002, so a lot of us were a bit rusty, as the times and cone penalties might indicate.

The next two VMSC autocrosses are on April 14 and April 28. There is a 125-car limit for both events. There will be four runs per car.

Due to noise ordinances, we can not begin until noon at VMP in Dinwiddie, VA. Our courses are usually 50-70 seconds long depending on who is driving.

If you want to help me convince those pinko-commie-tree-hugging-nature-freaks to alter the rules, let me know. Otherwise, sarcasm is not welcome.
