hey guys, i was wondering if anyone has heard anything NEW about the EVO 7?

specs?
price?
official statements?
production dates?

just wondering for no apparent reason, not that i'm interested or anything.. i'd never get it and i don't even like it... so don't think i'm gettin it cuz i'm not cuz i hate it and it's ugly

It will be priced under $30,000 (read: 29K lol). No official US specs are released, but horsepower will of course be lower than the japan model. The expected release date is the first quarter of 2003. Suburu is already looking into importing the WRX STi because of mitsubishi's smart move to compete against the vanilla WRX. Suburu's current projection for the STi is Q3 or Q4 of 2003, but who knows, that could change if they want to sell more cars.

According to the latest SCC the car will be here in January of 2003. The president of Mitsubishi Motors America made it official at the LA Auto Show. The car will have around 250 hp and sell for under $30,000. And the 250 can easily be changed back to the 276 by pulling the little piece of plastic off of the turbo.

I can scan the article as soon as I figure out how to work my scanner. As for the plastic piece I heard that from one of the DSM guys. They said that it's kind of like a restrictor (sp?) that you can take out to make the turbo boost higher. I'm not sure what it is or if it's true but that's just what I heard. He also said that for around $5000 you can have that car push out some serious HP.

I am one of those "DSM" guys and from what I heard the only difference will be that it will have a Side mount I/C, instead of a Front mount. the normal Hp rating for the evo is 276, but it is actulay over 300. For 5000$ in modd's you would be able to pull low 12/high 11 sec 1/4mi times. it will be using the 4g63 that the eclipse had, but its fliped 180 deegrees, and has hopfully had Crank walk curred.

Try www.Dsmtalk.com thats the main DSM forum, and they talk aobut every thing. we know about as much about the evo as every one else, that its coming in jan. As for the restrictor for the turbo I think I know what your talking about. On the dsm, there is a selnoid that controls the stock boost level(11.44 psi) you can pull a small restrictor out of there and run around 13 psi. I have a feeling that Satan(thats the nick name from the DSM comunity for mitsu dealers) will be able to charge what ever they want for the EVO 7, and people will still pay it.

i'd still pay over MSRP for one... if i was gettin one, and i wanted to buy a car, but i'm not, so i won't and i don't want that car, cuz who'd want a AWD turbo car? not me ... so forget it, i wouldn't pay for one, cuz it's dumb to buy one so i'm not gettin it even if i was selling my celica, so there :wiggle:
