Does anyone know when and exactly how HIN registration is going to work? I was told that a picture and discription of your car are part of the registration. I just want to make sure that I at least have enough stuff done to my car by then to get into the show. We are going to try to get an area together right? I'm hoping to have the suspension done, wheels on, intake on, and get some cosmetic stuff done both under the hood and inside the car. The hood scoop and shift knob I started in december will hopefully have been done by then too. By the way Cody, sorry I've had your scoop for so long. It is safe on my desk though. Let me know if you need it back yet. If not I would like to be done with it in the next few weeks anyway if I can make time to get back on the project.

i have no clue when the registration will be working, my only advice is to check out http://www.hotimportnights.com/registration.asp fairly freqently and just register as soon as it opens (if anyone does it make sure you post and let everyone else know it's working). as far as being in the same area, i read that you just have to arrive at the roll in with all your people, so registraion shouldn't make a difference. we'll just have to all get there at the same time on the day before when you bring the cars in and it should be good. but then none of us will have cars to get us home..haha...maybe i'll take my dads minivan and we can all roll home in it :) and i don't know what all is required in the registration (pics, etc...), but as far as i know, if you pay the $50 they'll let you in.

Thanks Cody! I'll check the site again. Even if my car would get in like it is now I'd still like it to be a little more showy before I take it there. With any luck we can get some of the models to pose with our cars.

I am thinking of getting an underbody neon kit for the show, What do you think, in yellow, I think that if we go we need to have a good bit of lights on our cars so they are noticed did everyone see the HIN Score Sheet they have a place on it for lighting and entertainment, It was in a SS I will try and find it and scan it in.

I wouldn't mind getting red neons for the show. Do you know which ones are good. I've seen a lot of really crappy looking underbody neons. I want to make sure they look good.

yea, i've always kinda liked the blue ones as funny as they are. i think it would be cool especially if we all had them. i wouldn't get anything other than streetglow, they seem to be the best ones overall. i think the gold line by them in particular is one of the best sets, and if i remember correctly rox said she can get us a real good deal on them (i forgot exactly how much though). oh yea, and on the subject of cool stuff i got my neat sparco shift knob in today. too bad i dont have a car to put it on though :(. i hope i have it back soon...

That would be cool if we all had them. We could terrorize truck drivers and steal some DVD players for our cars. Really though I think it would be cool, especially at HIN. We'll have to talk about it this weekend and see if Rox can get the prices for us. Can't you put the shift knob in your dads Miata until you get your car back? If not you can put in my car until then. jk

haha...i did hold put it over the shift lever thing in the miata but didnt attach it since you have to use the set screws and didnt wanna go to that trouble. it feels nice though, its really small and i think it'll look cool with the short shifter. oh, and i like the idea about stealing dvd players, i could use one. also, i just checked street glow's page and they list for $250-$300 but i think rox was saying somewhere in the $1?? range. i sure hope so cuz i cant afford to put $300 on some lights.

$300 would be hard to justify for neons. $100 or so range would be better. Does the quality of that shift knob look as good as it does in the pics? It looks really nice from what I've seen.

yup, $300 is way too much for me but i would pay in the $100's for them. yea, the shift knob seems to be really high quality, i'm pleased with it so far. i just hope the mounting will work ok, i had one crappy set screw one on my old car that came off while i was driving. this system seems a little different though and hopefully it will work better.

The best price I have found is 132.00 for the street glow gold series. It is supposed to be the best one. It has one transformer for all four lights instead of one per light and it is tougher too. I would definately get theirs if I were to get neon. The other catch is installing them.

We can figure out the install can't we? Rox, If you can go ahead and trace those endplates or at least call me with the demensions soon I can go ahead and get the material. We got a bunch of good stuff in on monday that would be perfect. I just need to hurry and put some aside for you before it gets cut up for other stuff.

thats a damn good deal, over half off the reatail. i think wiring shouldnt be a problem, my only concern is mounting them in a place where they wont look ghetto. ive seen too many cars where the bulbs were poorly positioned and you can actually see the bulbs instead of the glow and dont want that to happen. if we could get ahold of a lift i think that would help cuz i know working under my car is extrememly diffficult, its way too low.

I have a jack and some fairly high stands that would let us get under our cars on a creaper. I don't know of anywhere we could use a lift. How do they mount? I guess you would need to get them up in between the fraim rails as close to the floor as possible to hide the bulbs. I haven't actually looked that close at where I would put them, but I'll try to remember to look tomorrow.

pffft, we don't need no stinkin lift. just get me out there, i'm a midget, i fit under lots of things(cars, semi's, chandaliers, and other low flying mofos). i think i'm pocket sized too. hey, if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

Here comes Mark to the rescue you need a lift I believe I can provide one, The guy that has a place next door to the shop I worked at has a lift and he always let me use it, I was talking to him about putting neons on my car and he knows how to do them and said he would help I'm sure I can pursuade him into letting everyone put their car up and so we can install the lights, 132 is a hell of a deal I do believe I will be getting hooked up with some lights when I go back to work,

Here is my priority list for things to buy when I go back to work,
Pay off Bose Stereo system
30,000 mile service
CAI
Racing tires for stock rims
Neon Underbody
Dynomat
TRD Clear gas cap (possible)
Body Kit ?
build subs/amps neon lights plexiglass into trunk ?

At 13 dollars an hour saleried @ 40 hours a week, I think I can manage most of this list, I may need to cut a few things but its doable.

You know if we can't use that guys lift it probably wouldn't be to bad if we just jack the cars up as high as he can and but some jack stands underneath. that would probably work then we can use midget boy to be our Wire monkey

yea, the lift would definately be nice but we can probably deal with it if not. just raise up the jack stands all the way and try to wedge ourselves under there. i know a guy who's dad owns a body shop with lifts, i havent talked to him in a while but maybe we could even use his. or i found a place that could put one in your house for like $2500 :). that would be awesome, but i have a few things that are a little more important than that.

Oh cool. Thanks Duncan, I will trace them ASAP. My car is getting a bunch of stuff painted today. I hope he does a good job. We will see soon enough. I'm sure we can figure out the neons.

Hehe, I just got a belated $100 for my birthday over a month ago. :) What should I buy? My springs are on the way. My hoodscoop is....well....at Mall of GA Toyota. :) I've got a guy that wants to sell me a new WW front and rear lip (no sides) for $275 shipped. Is that a good deal. I'd have to wait til next week for that anyway. Any suggestions?

auto meter shift lite if you're into that kinda thing. that'll cost just about one benjamin.

thanks for the input guys. I actually got my hands on a WW front lip for 80 bucks. I'm hoping to get it in by the 8th. That's when my appointment to get my front bumper repainted is. How much would be a fair price for them to paint and install the lip for me. I wouldn't think it would be too pricey considering that they have the front bumper off anyway. Should install in a snap. Oh yeah, does the WW lip actuall sit lower than stock? If so, my car is gonna look really low in the front with my springs...
