"Lady's of the Celica"

As some of you may know from celica.net, that i have come up with a brilliant (well, ok, not really but...) idea! A webpage strictly devoted to the female celi drivers. A few more idea's to expand on this is a female celi board, or section of the board, a pics/stories/background section, and if we have enough women, a Lady's of the Celica CALENDAR. What do you think? I was thinking for more support we could make it a joint project between this site and celica.net.
Anyways it's just a hairbrained idea, but if enough people think it's worthwhile i would like to see it happen.

I would be down to participate. Sh*t, that's pretty flattering that the female owners would be recognized by a website or calendar or whatever. I think it would be better cause we actually OWN Celicas instead of random bimbos who model for cars and probably don't know sh*t. Even if there was some type of link to view female owner profiles, that would be a neat feature that I haven't seen yet. It would draw guys to the site (for obvious reasons) and also other girl members (because they see that there are more female enthusiasts out there, and not just car show models and sh*t)

I'm a moderator over on Club 3G, last year we did exactly that--a calender with nothing but the girls of 3G. It turned out really well, with all the profit going to the site to pay for all that damn server space and bandwidth that we so enjoy using up ;) The pictures were very tasteful and the girls that participated all enjoyed doing it.

Thanks babe! Yeah, the 3G calendar was alright, but it was the first time around, there is definitely some room for improvement! I think the idea for the girls site is good, i'd be interested.

sounds like a cool idea to have a website. Heck even if it opens up doors for sponsorship.. you know company's go and check it out see one of the girls who has a fixed up celi and gets interested in sponsoring her.. ok thats kind of far fetched.. but i'm dieing for some good sponsors.

Anyways, i'll participate in it. I'm sure once the site was up a lot of girls would put up pics of their cars and a profile.

We had the girls take a bunch of pictures with their cars (about 10-20 high-res pics) and had them all sent to one of our members EGL SCT (he's the one that put it all together), who I believe does photography work. He went through them, picked out the best ones, and put it all together on high-quality paper. It came out very nice, but yes there was room for improvements :)

We sold them through the site, with all profits going to the upkeep of the website. I think we charged $20-$25--I know, slightly expensive for a calender, but hey, it's for the good of the site, so why not! It was fun, and we will be doing another this next year. We have quite a few girls on the site now, so maybe we'll start it in OCT of 02 and go through the 03 year.

btw if you want to do this there are lots of logistical things to consider... including the shots within the calendar... every page should be a girl... with one main pic, and like 4 insert pics on the bottom with mini pics of the interior or another exterior shot.. like top 5 pics.. then top one gets blown up .. and top 4 get insert status.

i really wish the pics could be digital... my sponsor/diablo autosports owns a site now called www.carandmodel.com, they take excellent and high quality pictures. Mike has a great eye for photography.. and they have like $10k equipment.. very proffesional pics.. but they are digital not film. Oh well, maybe he has a good film camera and can take some pics.

problem with digital jamie is that every time you open it in photoshop then save it again you get a degradation of quality.... the jpeg compression scheme compresses, decompresses and recompresses the images differently.. so by the end of a design scheme we wouldnt have much to work with. The only solution is to use a VERY expensive camera to get mega mega pixels out of it so that even with loss it still comes out nice, and of course not to compress the image... in which case with the resolutions we're looking for (600dpi for a 12 inch x 12 inch shot) you would need a 36 million pixel CCD.

Well normally this would be true but I guess you have never heard of a little program called fractals........It is a plugin for Photoshop and it doesn't degrade.....I would have thought Marky Mark would have known about this....But I guess there is a lot of plugins for photoshop.But anyway with this program you can take a 2'by 2" photo and blow it up to 20x30 with no degradation..

Yep it keeps the picture at the originial resolution at about 2000x1600 at then you save it in Fractals format which is .STN then when you reopen it you can go up to a 4ft banner without any loss according to them. It uses an advanced algorithm to expand the picture instead of just taking the pixel and doubling etc.. If you want to see if it will fit your needs I may be able to set you up with an "eval" copy. Let me know. But I would like to have some of the originals :):P

I've been looking for someone interested in this also, but as you can see, the guys are interested in calendars of us. Don't they think any of us are serious about our celi's? Or that girls could actually be serious about their cars - must be threatening to them. When I'm at Qualcomm, the guys all assume that I'm someone's date, until I get in MY celi - I love the looks on their faces.

Yesh, the Celica Girls Calendar is still in effect! There are just a lot of girls getting work done on their cars right now and most of us just aren't ready. So in the GOF we came to the conclusion that everyone would be given an extension. But since calendars work on one year increments of course, we had to delay it to a 2004 calendar to allow time for girls to prepare their Celis, get their pics and for printing and sale of the calendar in time for that year.

kelica and summer, you need to contact selika2000 or gtslaid and most importantly you need access to the GOF since we do a lot of discussing there.

All the girls participating in the calendar decided that we needed to extend the due date, and make it a 2004 calendar. A lot of the girls were having problems with their celica's, or parts weren't in/on yet etc etc.. and no, we're not waiting on losing 10-15lbs.

Anyways, It's a long process with a lot of stages, and we're rolling with the punches.

The calendar shall be revealed (if everything goes smoothly) at the end of 2003, for 2004. :)

feeling on ya on the group meet. some of the girls and i on the cc.com & celica.net fl forum are trying to get an all girls meet together soon, preferrably before hin here in orlando. the girls that i've met within florida are all mad cool & pretty gunho about an all-female meet - it's just a matter of setting a date. we wanna do a pot-luck feast and talk about girly & car things, then do group shots of our cars. kinda like dinner party mixed with a car meet. not sure if it'll be in orlando or daytona too.

funny thing is the boys on celica.net ended up wanting to do a ladies vs. guys tournament thing with racing and show contests. it's an idea that floated but didn't pull much on grip.

maybe you should look to your area and find other ladies, perhaps not necessarily all celica, on organizing a meet.

I don't know what you are talking about Summer. The guys on this board have much respect for the girls who mod out their car and do their own thing.

We have a Girls Only Forum that is based for the girls to talk freely about anything car related or even personal things.

There are a ton of forums to talk about cars, and the calendar is an extra thing the girls are going to do. This calendar is to focus on the girls, their cars and to basically get this small group together and show it all off. We're being creative by putting together a celica calendar, which doesn't exist. These girls have been here for a long time, and it's about time we've gotten this small group together to show these guys that we can do it too.

Uuuum ya, that's the focus of the calendar. The fact that the female members here work on their cars and are active on the board and in their local scene is what makes the calendar so great. We are real female owners and not just random girls posing on cars.

Chris makes an interesting point. But Chris I think the thing is that, the ladies want to do all this stuff to their cars before doing the calandar. So that's why they're holding off until 04. Personally, I agee with you. Do the calandar with what you have now. The for 04, revise the calander, etc...

First off, the ladies are putting this together.. it takes a lot more then just taking pictures to put this all together. A lot of the girls have a lot of other stuff going on, and we want a different girl for each month, so we're being laid back and flexible.

Secondly, S.Menchavez is doing all the graphic work, designing each page, adding the pictures into the designated spots. She also goes to school, like other girls, and the girls have already decided an '04 calendar would work better for them.

Thirdly, this is a calendar the GIRLS are doing. So right now, your opinions on it not being an '03 calendar doesn't really matter. If you are going to be as rude to state we have 5 months to go, then you can just hold back your comments because they aren't needed at this point. You're being very selfish and narrow minded with this whole project.

Our goal is to work around the girls schedules, who have been here a long time, and make sure they are involved. A calendar just wouldn't be the same with the girls who have actually been here awhile, posted and been active.. to just have some random chics posing on the celica's.

Also, we need time to allow a voting process, printing, design and selling time. We have a whole website devoted to this calendar project, and it's not as simple and easy as it seems.

We make these girls post up more then just 1 picture. At least 5 pictures of that 1 girl will be on 1 page for that month. Each girl is suppose to show at least 10+ pictures and then all the girls vote on the best ones, and then those best ones go in the calendar. We are doing this strictly with all the girls, no boys comments are involved, except bastard and GTS LAID (who have been very helpful/creating the idea/and making this actually happen).

Believe me, we fought for an 03 calendar. Granted, I would like to do more stuff to my Celi, and I was willing to photo my car as she is right now. But majority rules and a lot of the female members felt that we didn't have enough time to get stuff done to the cars, get nice photos, send them in, design the calendar, print, etc in time for 03. Sorry. So we delayed it to 04 cause we want to make sure that crucial members like Shlegal, Jami, Kerisceli, TwinCeligirl, Jusone, etc who have lots of stuff going on right now can still be involved in this project.

kelica, don't be so defensive like you're trying to prove something. No one said you have to devote your life to posting in the Celica forums. I was just stating that some female members here are obvioulsy more involved in the car scene than others. It will happen. It's just not going to be happening anytime soon, like for 2003. We have a lot of things going on in our lives, the people constructing this site have a lot going on as well. We have to be flexible with everything going on in all the females lives.
