View Full Version : My Poor Celica the day I finally get my intake...

CelicaGuy13

Friday afternoon after i installed my intake, some lady decides to look at her kid behind her instead of looking forward in TRAFFIC!!!

Then she hits me going probably 35 or 40mph. Launches me into a diesel "A Propane diesel".

How are you? You had to take a nasty shock to your neck if the intake manifold has been caved in that badly.

your intake manifold is smashed up.. Does it still start?

Even if it did, I wouldn't suggest it

If there is frame damage, then they can total the car. (you get $$$ or a replacement vehicle) What sucks is they only give you "fair market value"...I think you probably sustained neck, sholder, and back damage. You should at least see a chiropractor. A friend of mine got in an accident and didn't feel any pain for about 2 months. Mostly just neck pain after sitting for long periods of time. Oh, and don't forget emotional suffering...you should go see a shrink to find out how to move on w/o your celica...you must have a cool head...if that were me, I'd have gotten out of my car and kicked her ass just for being stupid. (then of course, I'd be in jail, but fvck her!!!!)

thanks guys, yeah my neck and back hurt like a mutha F***er, heh but I'm so pissed its funny.... the cop put on the police report that i was part at fault.... they said I was speeding in traffic "in a one lane road" and hit the tanker... then somehow the person behind me decided to hit me... I dont know but that doesn't make sense at all since her car isnt messed up that much.. because most of the impact was taken by ME! yeah i already have a attorney from San Fran so im all good :)

oh yeah about the intake manifold... the stupid cop made me turn on my car a few seconds after it happened, didnt even bother to ask "are you guys ok?" and so i turned it on but "at most" did about 1 MPH, the throttle cable thing completely broke off.

Holy crap! Be glad you're OK. 35-40mph collision (I realize you're just estimating) is no joke.

Does that lady even realize you could have been seriously injured?

what a freakin redneck idiot. there is no bumper on the back of your car, there is now a family inhabiting your trunk, your nose is crushed under a truck, and he wants you to start the car? What is this going to prove? Did he make her start her car too? So pretty much, he didn't want to give you any saving grace on that engine...
If he says you were speeding, then perhaps you would have eventually rear-ended the tanker (personally, I'd have passed first, but hey, choose your poison), but she must have been speeding even FASTER since she rear ended you...using his theory anyway. Did he put that in his report?

Yeah that cop was a idiot. the stupid lady even told me and my friend that she wasn't paying attention to the road but to her kid in the back. And Deviant The headlights are broken.... just incase u thought they survived.... its ok they were fogging up so i needed new ones anyway

Fogging=under warranty...if you're <36,000 miles anyway...
you should drive it into the dealer like that, and say, well, I've noticed recently that the lights have moisture in them. Can I get them replaced under the warranty? lol...

That cop is a cvnt. He shows up on the scene after the fact and starts spewing sh!t like he was there? What is his undeniable proof/evidence that you were speeding? How can he possibly write you a ticket for something he did not even witness? Make sure your lawyer sends you to a good doctor who will fabricate all sorts of crap that is wrong with you $$$. God damn minivan driving mofos! Ever notice that it is ALMOST ALWAYS a minivan or an SUV pulling crap like this?

Oh yeah, and when her insurance company calls you and tries to get you to say things about your physical condition, just tell them "I don't know. Everything hurts, and I think it feels realy expensive!"

owe...my wallet hurts so much! I can't even open it anymore! Tell them you were an exotic dancer (a good one), and now due to your injuries, you can never work again, so the amount of compensation should be what you could have made over your lifetime, as an exotic dancer...lets assume $500/night*7 nights a week (you really are that good)*52 weeks/year (what vacation?)=$182,000 per year, and since I don't know how old you are [70-age]*182,000...that sounds fair to me...

CelicaGuy13
10-06-2004, 12:15 PM
yeah i know im pretty lucky. i saw her coming so i braced myself for the impact, that's why im not hurt as bad as i should be. I'll just have to wait and see what happens though, they are suppose to get the estimate today for my car. I think it might be around 5-6k not sure though.

wow ur neck must be hurting. my car looked kinda like that and insurance said it was totalled. but the funny thing is there was another black celica that was all ****ed up in the same towing yard and they looked at that one thinking it was mine. somehow they found out they made a mistake and tried to tell me my car is not declared totalled anymore. i can't believe they made such a stupid mistake. but luckely i had a lawyer already and now i got a new car =)

Not calling you a liar here, but that looks like an extensive amount of damage to the front of your car from somebody plowing into your rear. How fast could she have propelled you forward to cause that much damage. If I was a judge I would seriously find out 1. how fast you would have had to be propelled to cause that damage to your front, and 2. If it was possible for someone colliding with your rear to get you up to that speed. You know what I mean though, I can imagine your car jumping forward from the impact, but even if you were not on your brake that seems like a lot of damage to the front of your car...

Modesto drivers are known to be among the most slowest and incompetent around.

Don't even get me started on their cops...the Scott Peterson case speaks for itself.

Thing is, it totally skipped his bumper. The hood took all of the impact, and as I'm sure you know, it's not strong at all. The only thing that stopped his car was when the rear of the truck hit is intake manifold. If he hit the truck first, the engine probably would've been dislodged, since that's the only thing keeping him from going under the truck.

BTW, shouldn't the truck have had some bars underneath the rear that prevent cars from sliding under like that?

POISONLOTUS
10-06-2004, 06:03 PM
I still can't imagine that much damage happening, but you are right, it went over his bumper so this would be an unusual case. Hopefully this goes cleanly from here on. It's so funny- there is so much truth spoken in this thread. :chuckles:

CelicaGuy13
10-06-2004, 07:49 PM
yeah thats the bar i hit Blue. Yeah and i agree with you that modesto drivers suck... i actually live in a town 5 miles away from it, so i wouldnt consider myself a modesto driver :) but Blue is right the intake manifold was pretty much the only solid thing that stopped the front impact.

Dont let the insurance company pull the "you were not the proper distance from the truck in the first place" crap, like it has been stated, get a lawyer, you are in major pain, and not to mention the emotional suffering. There is no reason you shouldn't win, she verbally admitted she was in the wrong. and as for that dumb@ss cop, all i have to say is get your lawyer on him for wrongful accusations or some b/s........pork its whats for dinner.

May the force be with you.

You deserve a nice car after what happened. Especially with the damage you physically have taken and now have to see a doctor and a good reputation chiropractor to get FIXED (hint). Get a 2005 vette or something when it's all over. Just get a basic car to get you by for now.

Just make sure they cover your losses and give you a fair amount for your car. If you try and take them to the bank, you will only be contributing to the already high-insurance rates people complain about.

I think it depends on the insurance co., state, etc. I had a Mazda MX-3 get hit by a tree in 99. I had Geico, and they gave me the amount to replace the car. The adjuster drove around trying to find other 95 MX-3's for sale in the area, and they determined what they would pay me based on the "average" cost they could find. I ended up $3000 short of what I paid for the car 6 months earlier...they didn't take into consideration the conditon of the car or the mileage...
