I just found this:

http://www.newcelica.org/photopost/data/500/10387chip1-med.jpg

after washing my car the other day. I have damn chips liek this on both sides of my front fenders. However, this one is the worst and most noticeable or should I say these two are the worst. I really do not want to repaint them because I am sure it will happen again, but I do not want to put that crappy looking touch up paint on myh car either. Does anybody know of anything else that I can do or something else I can use to get rid of these? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dude that is so tiny, just use touch up paint. I know you hate it, I hate it too. But I had something twice the size of that on my pass fender and I said f**k it. Sanded it, and touched it up, not noticeable unless you're up close. It's a daily driver, it's gonna happen again. The car's just getting older, think of these chips in the paint as adding personality to your car. :gap: Seriously though, I'm sure there are worse things to worry about regarding your car. If not, wanna trade? I got some problems on my car you would love to address. :D Good luck Justin.

LOL your right, I worry too much about my car. I guess I will just break down and use the touch up paint. However, a friend of mine that works at a body shop discussed the use of the touch up paint with me and told me not to sand it down, but to build the paint up slowly, making many layers from the center and work my way out. Do you have any pics of the area you fixed? It seems to me like it would be better to sand the hard edges of the chip down, but he said not to LOL. Got any pointers? Oh and as far as worse problems than this to worry about concerning my car, the answer to that would be, "NO!" I have nothing else to worry about LOL other than the fact I need new struts, brakes, and tires LOL! Oh and all the rattles and creaks that it now has after only 29,000 miles. However, it is not that much LOL. I still love my car, even if it is the slowest thing I have ever driven.

na, i dont think u can ever worry enough about ur car. not possible. :gap:

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that I let it slide for so long that it started to rust, but only on the surface. So I was forced to sand it down. Unfortunately I have no close-up pics before I painted it. Your friend is absolutely right, I was told the same thing, and I have done it for a previous chip on my car and it's hardly noticable. Do not sand the edges down, no need to. Just follow what your friend said and you'll be straight. ;)

Right now I'm not worried so much about the paint because once this car is no longer a daily driver I plan to repaint the entire car, and garage it. And by the time I afford a new daily driver, the OEM paint will definitely be showing it's age. :chuckles:

LMAO! Yeah you can and you know it. I am a prime example. I don't know what I would do if I drove a Porsche or something, actually I do, I would never drive the damn thing. In all honesty if I had the money to buy a Ferrari or something then I would not be stupid enough to waist it on a car of that calibur LOL, there is just too many things that can happen. Hell the first time I parked it at a local restaurant and some old lady opened up her 1972 Chevy Chevelle door on it I would go postal, then have a heart attack.

I hear you man! The sad thing is I already have another car that is supposed to be my garaged baby. What is even more sad is that that same car is supposed to be the one I spedn all of my $$$$ and every since I bought the Celicas, I have done nothing but waist my money on them, and neglecting to give my garaged car the attention that is needs. I jst have a few more things I want to do to the Celica and then it is back to the Firebird. However, by the time I am done with the Celica I will be broke, but hopefully a college graduate by then making some real $$$$ for once.

Whoa u edited and added more to your post I see. :gap: Well yeah I have those same problems. The creeking and rattling from God knows where is really starting to irritate me, especially more so now since all my trunk plastics are removed.

And my sunroof looks like shit with all the tiny cracks in it, it has this weird glimmer effect to it, thank God it's not peeling at least. Damn 2001 plastic sunroof.

And yes I feel your pain. My car is at 29,XXX too and I replaced the brakes already and the struts are on their way out as we speak. My winter rims need new tires too. But I still love the car, as do you. However, it's not the slowest thing I ever drove. That award goes to my 88 Ford Tempo before the Celi.

And added even more now LMAO! Ouch, you had a Ford Tempo? I feel for you man. That has got to be not only the the ugliest car known to man but also the biggest POS known to man. I should know LOL, my X wife to be (I miss her sometimes, anyways) had an 89 Ford Tempo and it was the biggest POS I have ever laid eyes on.

I bet you do as I do. Park it all by itself when you take it too a parking lot, but not so far away that it becomes a target to theives. And if you're within eyeshot of your car you will glance at it every 20 seconds or so to be sure that no one parks next to you, backs into you, looks at it funny, etc etc. Hell, if my friend's are talking to me and someone is parking next to me, I am no longer listening to what my friend has to say. Im just concentrating on that other car, and wondering why is he parking so damn close to me. Don't worry, you're not alone bro. :chuckles:

Well I must admit the fact that I still live with my parents and have no bills helps out a lot. However, as soon as I graduate I can no longer live the good life at home though LMAO. It sucks! As far as me being old LOL, I just turned 24 in August. I feel old now because all of my friends have moved away, gotten married, or have kids etc. now but then I say hell who gives ****. I can go out and do whatever the hell I want when I want, so if you get down to it I guess I am still young and free. As far as college goes I should be out, but after the X I just mentioned broke it off with me I took a 3 year break from school and got a job, hence the reason the Celi's were paid for in cash!

Ohhh ok, 3 year break, that makes sense! :gap: I just turned 23 myself and just graduated in May. I still live at home too, but I work in the city, and I can't afford to live in the city because it's rediculously overpriced. Don't worry man, you're still young and free, just live it up while you still got time. That's my plan. :)

Glad to see me and Justin aren't the only ones Drew. :chuckles:

Wow, 80,000? What year is yours? Mines an 01, bought it with 5 miles on the odometer. Major trips with the car include Boston twice, and Florida once. Now that I work in the city I drive the car on the weekends only. :D

Hey man I hear you on teh not being able to live in NY City. It is ridiculously overpriced. I had a friend that was working there once and he was paying like $25,000 a month for a freaking apartment. Besides I honestly do not think you could pay me enough to live within the inner realms of NY City.

I do the same thing! I'm going to use you guys for examples next time my family/friends make fun of me for being a "car freak"...Three years and 45,000 miles later it still looks new though. (aside from similar road rash as you boys have experienced)
Quick story: I was driving to work today, and I stopped at a red light. This woman in a Blazer next to me is drooling all over my car, then she opens her window and says "your car is beautiful...when you see a car like that, you don't expect a girl to be driving it" lol!

I feel you bro. You couldn't pay me enough to live in Manhattan either. Too damn crowded. And it's nice to be able to retreat back home to my simple surburbia in Long Island. :D

I get the same name comments from my friends too. Screw 'em I say, car still looks new and I intend to keep it that way. :)

Wow, you're a girl? I never would have guessed that.

Is this a sarchastic comment or truth? I ask because I've been in many an argument because I do not understand/misunderstand the context of a comment. (thus, does not play well w/others...) I will assume, not sarchastic...why not?

Exactly; If I'm going to pay $30,000 for a car, damn straight I'm going to keep it as nice as I can for as long as I can. If it's ugly, I still have to drive it. I can't afford to buy another one, so I take care of the one I have...hell yeah I park out in east chucka**** whereever I go. Just more exercise for me. Oh, and the watching the car thing; the gym I go to has the treadmills lined up in the front window, so for the 30 or so minutes I'm on the treadmill, I can watch my car in the parking lot the whole time...that's where you can see how bad people really are at driving/parking, and it makes me glad I park as far away as I can...this guy one time was driving an "elevated" F150...parked in the spot in front of my car. His truck was too big for the spot, so he ended up parking w/ about 6 inches of his front end over my hood...*******. if my car were any taller, he'd have hit it.

Sorry for the confusion, I was speaking the truth. I had no idea. I guess it's cuz this is the internet, and it's a car forum, so I automatically assume most people on here are males. And since I can't see faces, I just go by the way people speak, and you havent said anything too girly-like yet, no offense. :D I didn't mean to diss you or anything. Sorry if I did. :)

awe, and I was just about to ask if anyone made pink interiors and whats this coiley thingie in the engine its making a funny noise, and how often should I chage the oil? ha ha...Actually, I do the dumb girl thing when I want my tire pressure checked. I always seem to let more air out than I put in, so I usually go to somewhere that checks it for free. Makes the mechanic feel special cause he can help the pretty girl w/ the hot car put air in her tires...lol!

I think the funniest thing that ever happens is when chics pull up in cars next to me, and give me the eye/smile thing (you should know what this is)...but then they realize I'm a girl and kind of look away fast...I make them question their sexuality...lol!
