So far im very impressed, i was gunna go Bridgestone Potenzas but heard they run out real quick.
Ive only done a couple hundred kays on them so far so will have only just worn off the coating, but they are ****loads better than the Falkens i had on b4. Better on everything so far, handling ,stopping, accelerating, noise. Havent been able to see if they reduce mileage and wont get an opportunity to for a few weeks. Into hospital on Fri, ill be outa action for a few weeks!
Blah , steer clear of the Falkens is my recommendation. They are reasonable in the dry but are useless in the wet. I guess for the price they arent too bad, but considering tyres are one of the most important things to make your car "go" whats the point on spending heaps of money on mods if you arent going to buy good tyres?
The Eagles i got are 215/17/45 and retail at around $350 per tyre installed. If you can get trade/wholesale you can get them fitted for just under $900 for a set.
If you want best of the best go for Bridgestone Potenzas or Michelin Pilot Sports, but both of those means you may be forking out another 1000 minimum for tyres after only 20-30K. Eagles are said to be good lasters, ive heard of up to 100K, but i will see
I got a set of Potenzas in the stock size (205/55 R15). I didn't buy them, the car was second hand and the tyres were very new (probably less than 1000km on them). How much would they have cost the previous owner to put on? About $1k?
I wanted to get some better wheels for the Celica. I like your wheels Superdaws. I have no idea how much alloys cost. I'm thinking of upping the wheels to 215/45 R17 but I'm guessing this is gonna cost me $1k for the wheels (just a guess) and another $1k for the tyres...dang!
THe potenzas would have been over 1K to fit to your car man. Retail im guessing about a few hundred a tyre for a 205/55/15.
My vortex wheels are no longer available, Toyota has come out with another wheel that is fairly similar though. They are 215/45/17.
Tyres for the 215/45/17 will cost you around 350 if you get good ones. If you can manage to get wholesale you get a good set of silica compounds on for about 900-1000.
what potenza's ? and 300~400 for a 15" tyre i really doubt it man
i've had
grid II's in 205/55 15 they were about $165ea : crap tyre but lots of mileage
potenza re711 in 205/55 15 ~ $200ea : awesome tire in both wet and dry with stiff sidewalls
potenza re71 in 205/55 15 ~ $140ea : for the price can't complain, old run out stock however very sticky in the dry, not so good in the wet
Sorry shouldve been more specific, those prices are for 17" tyres. I got those prices retail ringing around only about 2-3 weeks ago. Luckily i got mine wholesale. But as best as i could find the prices are pretty accurate for 17" wheels. Expect to pay somewhere between $300-400 a tyre for GOOD 17's!
hhmmm never tried the Goodyears... but the Falken Azenis I had were fantastic....true the grip dont last on them though . :burnout:
