I've heard you guys talking about getting S2000 style antenna's for your Celica's and couldn't work out why you would bother.

I only just realised why - you guys in the US have that poxy steel antenna sticking out of the rear quarter panel!

The Australian Celica has a short flexible antenna in the middle of the roof, just above the windscreen.

It's fantastic!! Doesn't get in the way and it is FAR better looking than the S2000 ripoff.

However, the Aussie Celica doesn't get the lower grille that you guys get - can't even get it as an accessory or option. Bloody Toyota Australia!

Here's a pic - it is a bit hard to see.

Sorry about that ..... try this link, the pics are a bit better.

I actually like the placement of the S2K antenna on the US model. I hate having $hit poppin out of the roof, but thats just my opinion.

Yeh... Russell Crowe is a New Zealander anyway. We'll know he's really lost the plot when he goes on discussion boards calling himself Elvis Presley.

The Aussie Celica is quoted as having 140kw which equates to about 186hp. I believe this is the same as in the US? I would not be surprised if they made 190hp, especially if it is running on 98 octane premium unleaded (which is quite widely available now). Also, I have heard suggestions that the 140kw is a conservative power estimate.

As far as Type R integras (or whatever they are called over there) they are quoted at 141kw. They generally are considered slightly faster due to their lower weight and LSD.

I have never had a proper race with a Type R, but the moron that was tailgating me in one some time ago certainly wasn't gaining on me once I put the "pedal to the metal".

There are certainly a lot more Celica's around (in Canberra at least) than Type R integras! Both Celica models in Oz (SX and ZR) have the same engine and gearbox, with the only differences being cosmetic. The lower priced SX compares quite favourably with the Integra Type R (as well as looking 1,000 times better).
