Does anyone know how to bypass the DVD player so the car can play dvd's while it is rolling? Know one will do it here. It is the Alpine 5025 and the Alpine 1003.

ya, u can put switches on the brake and ebrake wires coming out of it. That's what i did. Bit annoying tho. Do a search on ebay. There are automatic circuits u can hook up that do it automatically when u turn the car on. They'll run u $50-$100 tho.

There has got to be an easier way....We hooked up my friends Kenwood DVD and all we did was ground the foot pedal wire and it worked.

take a look at the wires coming off the deck, one likely leads to your e-brake. as it is, it probably is connected so that the ebrake has to be on for you to use the player. in most cases all you really need to do is move the wire to a constant ground and you are all set.

Hey, had to do this before....

If I remember right, they say that you have to come to a complete stop, raise the parking brake, press the brake pedal, drop the parking brake, raise the parking brake, and release the brake pedal.

Well, all you need to do is this:

Buy two switches, like from Pep Boys, and hook up one to the wire from the CVA-1005 that is supposed to go to the parking brake.

Hook up the other to the wire lead that is supposed to go to the foot brake.

Then, hook up the "foot brake" switch to a positive wire (like from the ignition) and the "parking brake" switch to a ground point, like a nut/bolt on the metal part of the body.

Would look like this (starting at the 1005):

-Parking brake input wire >>> switch A >>> to Ground

-Foot brake input wire >>> switch B >>> +B from ignition or other constant source

Then, you turn switch A on to simulate the hand brake and switch B to simulate the foot brake, get it? :)

Thanks David but where is the parking brake wire and the foot pedal wire?

Forget the parking brake wire and foot pedal wires....

All you need are the wires labeled "parking brake" and "foot brake" attached to the CVA-1005.

On the instructions, it will tell you to hook up the two wires coming from the CVA-1005; one to the parking brake wire and one to the foot brake wire.

So the instructions want you to do this:

CVA-1005 (parking brake input wire) >>> Vehicle's Parking Brake Wire
CVA-1005 (foot brake input wire) >>> Vehicle's Foot Brake Wire

Instead, do this:

CVA-1005 (parking brake input wire) >>> Switch A >>> - Ground
CVA-1005 (foot brake input wire) >>> Switch B >>> + Power

So, where the instructions say to raise the parking brake, flip the switch A to "on".

And, where the instructions say to push the brake pedal, flip the switch B to "on".

Wish I can tell you how they wired the by-pass switch for my CVA-1005. All I need to do is press the brake pedal, switch-on, switch-off, release the brake pedal, and the screen turns on.

Um...why not just hook it up to the clocks power wire? Thats what i've done, and it works fine. Instead of splicing the ebrake line, just splice the clocks wire.

Da Wacky Paki...I tried evything....hooked it up to all the constants..cig lighter, clock, fuses.......the only thing that worked was what good ol david said....

hmm... i dunno then. Mine works fine. I used to have it connected to the parking brake light, and it would only work when the brake was up. It works fine with the clock, so i dunno. Maybe because its a different brand or something? Oh well, at least its working now... just BE CAREFUL!

I think each unit is different. We hooked up my friends Kenwood and all we did was ground the brake wire and it worked. Alpine is funny sometimes....
