what i did was , email companies that i was interested in, let them know what kind of mods i have with pics. let them know which shows you've been to and if you won anything in the past. most major companies will not even look at your car unless its super show quality car so don't expect good responses all the time. best way to start is from small companies/shops around your area and work your way up. also don't expect to get anything for free from a sponsorship. most of the time they will give you good discounts and thats about it.

Stay away from that Lady!
It is kinda hard to break into the "sponsor" scene. If you're just looking for free parts, get out and don't come back to the sponsor side.
I mean no disrespect, but it's people like you that make it a time consuming process to build cars for shows anymore. We build quite a few cars EVERY YEAR that are used as manufacturers image vehicles. I have enough contacts now, that it's just a phone call or an e-mail and the parts are at our door within a week.
Before, we had to push because there were too many people taking advantage of the system and just getting free parts for their cars and not doing the shows, etc... that they agreed upon. We we're still building our reputation and it took a lot of leg work to make things happen. The pay-off, again, is now being able to just pick up the phone and have parts sent without a problem. That is all due to our leg work and our ability to keep our word and attending the shows/press we agreed upon.
Once More-
If you're just trying to get parts free or for cheap on your car then that is stealing in my book. You're stealing from the company (retail vs WD profit margin or free) and you're hurting the industry. It will just continue to make it harder for real builders to get vehicles completed without too much hassle.
If you are real and 100% serious about helping the industry out, then here is my advice. The best way to get sponsored is this, build your entire first car all by yourself with no help! Use that car in your proposals and include the shows it attended and the press it received as proof that your serious FOR YOUR NEXT PROJECT. Make sure you market the hell out the car and get as much press as you can. Companies sponsor parts based on advertising dollars. If you're not getting them any ink or show coverage, why sponsor you with parts?
To Close-
If you expect to get sponsored right out of the shoot without any history, well then, I'll be the first to tell you it isn't going to happen. At best, you'll still rip a company off by getting discounted parts and in turn make those same parts less available for true marketing / image vehicle builders within the industry.
Sorry, but I hate people who are out to just get free parts and abuse the sponsor program.
